I hope this is the case, I'd like the future generations to start seeing the strengths of preferential voting so they always have something to vote for when their interests don't align with the majors.

I've always agreed with this in principle but I've always been worried about minority governments being held to ransom by cross benchers because of some quid pro quo that nobody else voted for. I like them in the senate though because they're a firewall against bad government and shit policy. I still think we have the best system though. As it currently stands it's not the end of the world of your guy doesn't get in. My guy is getting his pants pulled down but now I wish the current guy all the best because it's in all of our interests.

Would think so, who would replace him.

Dutton and Taylor would be last of the faces from the Abbott-Morrison era so time for a rebuild. I hope it's not Taylor, too much baggage and they need to gain ground in threes years and IMO need someone completely different and back them in as opposition leader for two terms like Abbott. I think someone like Andrew Hastie who might not have broad appeal but would go a long way to consolidate the vote that is being stripped by meme parties on the right. If James Paterson were in the lower house rather than the senate I could see someone like him being put forward for a new rebranded Liberal party.

Who can honestly still support Labor in the current state of our country.
Economically personally and for small businesses?
Shame on Australia if Albo gets back in
problem is main opposition are gimps that have offered nothing. not hard to see why people are thinking **** it will just keep the same blokes in

This bloodbath serves as a cautionary tale for anyone wanting to run for Prime Minister in Australia.

Regardless of political affiliation, you can’t be as jarring as Dutton was. You can get away with it in the US, but not here.

Exactly - yet Liberals like Michaelia Cash ran around praising Trump as a big thinker 🙄

Very similar to Canada
After seeing what has happened in the USA the vast majority aren’t satisfied with that conservative pitch that the libs ran with

Instead people want to keep some “normality” domestically in what will be a turbulent time globally due to trump

Libs really attached themselves to the wrong horse this cycle
