Anyone know much about these guys? I was having a look through Rocking Horse Records in Brisbane on Friday and they were playing a band I hadn't heard before which turned out to be Electric Wizard so I bought the album that was on which was dopethrone. Absolutely love it, I googled them at work this morning and it said on wikipedia that this was one of their better efforts, is this accurate or are there better albums?

Wikipedia also said they come under the classifications of Doom Metal - Stoner Metal and Sludge Metal which of these would be most accurate?

Dopethrone or Come My Fanatics would probably be their best album, my fave is CMF. Recently picked up their new album Witchcult Today... need to listen to it more before reviewing it. I'd call their music doom metal.

We Live would be the next album to pick up, followed by their self-titled album. I don't really like Let Us Prey or Supercoven.

Had the fortune of seeing them seven times in 2006, was actually the first time I had heard their music... that was a cool experience. :)
 
Thanks for the info mate, I'll check out Come My Fanatics asap. I'm not much of a metal man usually (having said that I like some Pantera, some Sepultura and other heavier stuff like Ministry etc) but this really caught my ear in the shop and I've listened to it 3 times since and love it.

Only know a couple of their songs but they are brilliant from what I have heard.
 
I'd say Dopethrone is their best, with Let Us Prey not far behind (officially an EP I think). Really heavy, fuzzy and distorted bass, distorted vocals, but it all has a certain groove. Come My Fanatics is good, but maybe not better than Dopethrone for an introduction to the band.. also their very early split CD with Orange Goblin has got some good stuff on it from both bands.

Tool are past the point of being able to make up for anything....17 years now and counting. Even then I'm being generous as Undertow was just a Melvins ripoff anyway.

Not DSO's fault P4K are trying to remain relevant to interesting music. I tell you this, nobody who reads P4K will read the review, listen to DSO on youtube and then become a fan, it's far too extreme. EW on the other hand.....

Not EW aren't good, i listen to them from time to time when i can't be bothered with sabbath lol
