With the long term injury to Pettifer, we must elevate a rookie and give them a go.
I know Collard has done sweet FA since he joined, but he is easily the most talented rookie we have. I think we should elevate him and use him as an x-factor type player if we lose to the Lions this week and are out of the hunt for the finals.
Why Collard?
We have a surplus of backmen with even Rance struggling to get a game despite some good performances in the twos. This means it would be crazy to elevate Sylvester.
With Gus Graham in good form and not able to push his way up into the seniors it would not make much sense to elevate Cartledge.
Howat has been given a taste and has that one quality that crucifies players who try to take that step up into the seniors - he plays only on one side of his body.
That leaves Collard. Anyone that has seen him play can tell you that the kid CAN play. He has been give sweet FA motivation by being dropped to the Burgers reserves even after good performances for the firsts.
He can play as a crumbing forward who can play taller than he looks (strong overhead) and is a great kick for goal. We can assess whether we keep him for next year by throwing him into the fire.
