Autopsy Elimination Final 2025 : Hawks crush Giants

Watching the replay right now. And just realised how beautiful is the brown and gold in the September sun? The gold is glowing.

Love when we wear our home kit with white shorts for away games. Don’t mind the legends kit but when we’ve got the regular kit on in an away game it just feels like finals

Thank-you for your sacrifice
Now I have to go and get it. Got a call from the police. Apparently, I just left the doors open.

Just finished reading the game day thread. I was in the car for the entire 7 goal run by GWS, so wasn't following the thread. (If anyone is interested, I got out of the car and left it on the side of the road, once I realised I was the problem.)

If I tune in to a game we were winning and the other team gets the momentum after I tune in I’ll tune out for a bit because I’ve caused the problem obviously. Drives my wife mental.

When we're 42 points down ad losing epically vent all you want, but putting shit on a team that's actually still ahead is just petulance.

Not sure what gatekeeping emotions the following day achieves. Everyone handles things differently.

I didn't yesterday but I've vented in a gameday thread many times, if people I knew read it and knew my online identity I would be embarrassed, but no regrets.. It an anonymous outlet where I can quietly jump on my phone and be a bit irrational and then put it away and continue to act more normal around my friends and family in front of the tv

Thought I'd watch a replay with Seven's commentary.

Heard BT call Wardy as Macdonald, not once but twice within the first 30 seconds.

Cancelling Seven's replay and will watch a repeat of Fox Footy's coverage instead.

He would have been furrowing his brows really hard when Alliir was playing on Mabs

Understandably Hardwick is getting a lot of love, but it felt there was an entire team intent towards Toby Green. A real desire to ensure he didn't get off the leash.

Absolutely.

Yet after all that he had a chance to put them in front, 35 out on a slight angle, and missed. He kicks that and I think we might be cooked.

They got in his head.

I like Toby too.

All of our defenders absolutely killed it yesterday - all had massive moments and I’ve already (rightly) gushed about Dimma. However Scrimshaw’s game was beyond massive also. He was an absolute colossus last night and when Barrass was stuck on the bench in the last he dropped to fullback and went full 2013 GF Q4 Brian Lake mode. He was brilliant all game. I don’t get why anybody can talk even hypothetically about trading him - you can’t easily replace what he’s got and he’s easily in our top echelon of players. Any talk of him leaving makes me genuinely sad.

He's two from two so far in tough interstate finals. Even though he had a worse year this year, we might be seeing a pattern here, that he is lifting for September.

This is one of the best end of game interviews I’ve seen, sicilys analysis of the game is elite

This year, many people here saying "he's not a good captain" or "the worst ever Hawthorn captain".

So, and try to put recency bias aside for a moment, which was the better win, this year or last year's EF?

Two very different wins. '24 was pure, we were in unstoppable form and in an irresistible mood that night.

Yesterday was a gritty, guts-it-out win against a surging tsunami.

For me, it's still last year. Maybe it was partly because I was there with 98,000 others, but I maintain that was the best I've seen us play since the threepeat. We would have beaten anyone else in the league that night.

What about you?
There is no doubt about that Roddy...
It was one of the best nights I have experienced only matched by the '08 Grand Final.
The atmosphere that day behind the goals at the Punt Rd end during the 3rd qrt when Dew went on a rampage was unbelievable.....
Likewise last year's elimination final against the doggies...we outnumbered them 5 to 1....

I loved last year's elimination win only because we attended and soaked up the atmosphere and adrenaline watching the Hollywood Hawks play Hokball...

What a game!

Absolute roller coster. This is why I love footy.

Newcombe is built for finals.
Weddle is as good as Day - they are both elite players that completely change our team.
Forward line looked better without the extra tall, and Ginna/CMac/Wiz kicked 6 between them. That's us at our best.
Scrimshaw has been taking marks like that a lot the last month or two, he's a gun.
Meek was cheated against all game.
Chol's goals completely made me lose my mind. The celebrations at my place after both goals were amazing
Worpel stepped up a gear and Ward was really reliable all game.

We took our chances better than we have all season.

Solve that problem where we completely go to sleep for 15 mins and we'll go pretty deep into finals

There's no full match replay up on the AFL site despite the other 3 game full replays being there. Why's this? Anyone know if there's a link to a replay elsewhere?

OMG!

Lloyd MEEK and James SICILY both cited by the MRO!!

(RELAX - FINES ONLY LOL)

Meek for striking Briggs in the 1st quarter and Sicily for making contact with an umpire. Both $1,000 fines with early plea.

Sad really that you'd think that funny. I'm traveling around Australia and everywhere I stop there is evidence of aboriginals massacred or in chains, culture destroyed or long term damage. I love AFL but a bit of perspective and respect is needed. How would you feel if it happened to your

I actually stayed up to watch the game live. My poor wife, I woke her up a few times. :D

The first quarter performance, more of that please against the Crows. Just very pleased.
I drove 6 hours to watch the game and then drove 6 hours home again afterwards and still had to watch the last quarter on Kayo when I got home. Adrenalin and Red Bull.

Didn’t see the Meek one but Sicily definitely did give the umpire a good old seeing to. His opponent tried to use the umpire as a buffer to run off and Sic was not in a buffered state of mind.
