Fairly confident this week - moreso than last week. As you'd expect, not too many differences at this stage, but I reckon I've got him covered with the six unique players... could come down to the captain choice.

Now, bring on Sunday afternoon so I can eat my words.

Me - The Ichiban Kids
Duffield, Bartel, Selwood, Martin*, Sandilands, Didak

Him - Fully Sick
Goodwin, Watson, Ball, Armstrong*, Pyke, Hall

* was Barlow last week.

'Fully Sick' anyone here?

Oh dear - not my week.

Old mate brought Boyd in for Barlow... 73 points til half time.

Goodwin has his second best game of the year and 30 points over his average.

Watson jumped out of his grave and scratches out 110.

Pyke has his best game of the year and 20 points over his average.

Hall turns up with 3 goals to half time.

And Goddard, a common choice - late withdrawal, old mate has Webberley as his EMG, I have Sheppherd... and, yep, Webberley has HIS best game of the year and nearly 30 points over HIS average.

100 points vs Hall and Boyd's second half...

Hmmmmmmm... nom nom nom - Thursday nights words.

Nice - a 50+ point quarter to Boyd and three more goals to Big Bad Bustling Barry... I'm cooked. What a load of horse shit!

I was actually expecting those 100 points to last a lot longer.

I(Mike's Magic, ranked 4th overall ) need Boyd to outscore Gia by a total of 104 to win my Eliminator vs Easybeats FC (ranked around 40th overall). 3Q time has Boyd 125 to Gia 33, gonna be a great last quarter!

I jinxed myself by mentioning it. Gia comes to life in the 4th quarter when the game is over to ruin my hopes of winning the Eliminator this year. Oh well, it's a crappy prize anyway!

I got killed this week.

Lost 2209 v 2370.

Oh well, it was good while it lasted.

I only had 5 players different as the captain was the same

I had Enright, Gilbert, Selwood, Gibbs & Didak

He had Malceski, Hargrave, Dal Santo, Boyd & Chapman :(

All his different players scored 100+

Oh well, next year!

Ripping game Mike's Magic - you were unlucky not to get up in the end (thought I had it stitched up long before Boyd's heroics). It's my first post on BF after a few years of lurking so continued best of luck in the overall.

:thumbsu: I agree it's a crappy prize, the bragging rights have gotta be worth something...

I got through as well, 2270 to 2190 end. Goodsy was the difference in the end.
Not expecting to go any further as I'm saving my trades for a league win so carrying a couple of injured guns on the bench (however, have been doing that the last few weeks and somehow just manage to scrape through).

Your going for the league win over a chance to go further in the elim?!

Yep, a league win with real life mates where we all take it super seriously means way more to be than a slight chance to win a not too flash prize (now if it was $10k that would be a different storry).

If Pav scores less than 108 I go through. Thought I had it wrapped up when he copped a 0 with Buddy out and had Ablett captain. However, he had Lewis, Hargraves, Boyd and Montagna pull out massive scores whilst I had Brown and Webberley doing not much.
Congratulations mate, I got through as well, things are getting pretty serious now, really helps to have a fit side and to have a bit of luck on your side.

The unbeatables still cranking along :thumbsu:

I made it to the last 32 a couple of years ago, can match that if I crack it for a win this weekend!

edit: wait, are there 64 or 32 teams left now?

Into the last 64, just sneaking past each team on the last day, been very lucky recently.

You seem to be having a very good season Tarq, not only in the eliminator but also overall.

What's the secret to your success in 2010?

Eliminator has been about luck.

Last round: He also selected Ablett as captain, so that allowed my team to get over the line. Just my premiums did slightly better than his premiums.

Two rounds ago: I ran into someone with Barlow that must have burnt all his trades, he still maintained Barlow in his mids and scored a zero. Won by 86 points.

4 rounds ago: Ran into someone in fine form, but I think Enright scored 138ish points and got me over the line, along with a massive Boyd game from memory.

Eliminator has been about running into the correct opponent at the correct time.

As for the league, it has been a combination of many aspects.

1. Semi decent starting squad, most of my top end keepers have played almost all of their games.

Enright, Scotland, Duffield, Hodge
Boyd, Gibbs, Bartel, Ball
Sandilands
Harvey, Gian, Pavlich, O'Keefe

2. Landing a few decent mid priced options.
Waters, Malceski, Hille

3. Getting on some good rookies
Pods, Rocky, Trengove, Martin, Nason, Gumbleton

4. Early downgrading/upgrading of underperforming mid priced players.
Wright, Warran, Medhurst, Hunt

5. Most upgrade trades working.
Swan, Goddard, Cox, Gilbert, Chapman

Still I have maybe spent a little too much on upgrading my DP links and providing cover for the run home. I have potentially Sylvia and Leon Davis as cover most weeks.
My captaincy selections have also cost me roughly 150 points, just some stupid selections.

So mix in a little luck with some solid trading and you have a decent ranking.

Round of 64 match ups are now listed.

I'm up against "Gary", looks to be an incredible team, especially in the backs where he has Grundy as cover on the bench. I think my run is about to end this round, but it's been fun.

Black Sun Empire (Overall ranking 64th) v TAGers (Overall ranking 6th)

Gilbert v Goodwin
Duffield v Waters

Gibbs v Montagna
Pavlich v Hayes
Sylvia v Goodes

It is not looking good, there is a very good reason why this guy is ranked 6th overall, he even has solid bench cover.

What's your mid bench cover like Tarqs? I would have said this was a very close matchup but if Gibbs is out it pushes it in his favour.
