His early form of 2025 showed he has all the ability in the world, staying fit is the key
The point is actually very few injury prone bean poles end up fulfilling the potential and actually end up being an elite player. Yes, he does have ability. Yes, he showed a real glimpse of it at stages, but the fact is he has lost a lot of development, and it is rare for guys to reach the full level of potential when they miss so much footy early.
I think if he stays on the park, he can still be pretty good just not elite level.

Yeah, he definitely isn't a Max Gawn but one area where he started to improve before injury was his marking. Was actually starting to clunk them.

Marking around the ground is an area we suck at. Hopefully May, reid, Caddy can improve things. Still need a Ruck that can take more marks though. Such a huge advantage for any team.

Given up on Cox, Jones for marking ability.
Well, he is playing for Brisbane now, so it does not really matter.
Just on his marking he went from averaging 3 in 2024 to 3.6 in 2025. I think the improvement was more he spent more time playing forward and got more opportunity to clunk a few inside F50.
I have no doubt he will be good enough for Brisbane. He has some ability despite his average footy IQ and marginal skills.
It will probably hurt to see him doing okay if he stays fit, but it will be what it is.

How many elite players does a contending team on average have? I think from a hypothetical/projection standpoint you'd start there and then work your way back.

Typically 6. That’s about what the salary cap allows for.

Typically Two mids two defenders and two forwards.

…..

Draper played his best last year as FF who chopped out in the ruck. Will be interesting to see how he goes at Brisbane because he’s not actually that good of an around the ground ruck.

Probably won’t matter because the lions midfield is just too good and could make anybody tall enough look like a gun ruck

Worth re visiting this after two more drafts, we have bank rolled a plethora of first rounders, time for them to kick on now;

Robey (9), Farrow (10), Sharp (13), Kako (13), Caddy (10) we need some to kick and become stars (not suggesting immediatley but eventually).

Having some of these mid > late picks come good is an added plus, a star from a 3rd rounder a genuine bonus.

How do you rate the talent under 24 on the list?

1. Nate Caddy - Kid could be anything
2. Isaac Kako - another who i feel is going to suprise a few with how well he ends up as a player.
3. Sully Robey - Kid has the highest ceiling imho. Could become one of the best players in the comp if it all works out.
4. Zac Reid - 23 yrs and 10months so sneaks in haha. The ceiling is huge and fingers crosed its clicking with his body staying healthy.
5. Vigo Visentini - Im huge on this kid. His ability to help around the ground for someone so young is impressive for a big guy. The tap work is improving but its all coming together. Think he could become a star.
6. Archie Roberts - Looks to be on an upwards trajectory, should become a 200 game player barring injury of course.
7. Archie May / Kayle Gerryn - lump these two together but if it all clicks. Watch out! the abilty to take a contested mark and kick it well so young is great. Would be awesome if one kicked on.
8. Jacob Farrow - Probably a little low but not having seen much will temper my expectations. Top 10 def/mid, fingers crossed it can work out for him
9. Angus Clarke - Looks bankable, similar to Roberts that he will become a long term player. Unsure on how high his ceiling is but looks a good role player for a long time.
10. Dyson Sharp - Simialr to Clarke, unsure how high his ceiling is but looks a bankable player for a long period of time from all the track watchers.
No Tsatas - you talked him up previously?

yep, all in hope. failed. Put my hand up and say got it wrong
It’s alright Yoda, I had him fourth in the original post of likely candidates. He’s let me down too. It has to be said though, I didn’t make the outlandish claim that people would be embarrassed…

we've all made silly calls, some dont like to own them, others do

Once you have mentally written them off, they can surprise you.
I expect he will likely be delisted.
From here if he turns into a David Myers leader + we get 100 games out of him it will be a positive, thats how low the bar is.

What we need is another Durham or Martin. Someone coming good from a late pick
And our early picks to fulfill their potential - Caddy, Kako, Robey, Sharp, Farrow.

I reckon Matt Guelfi could be on this list of all goes well
