Think the club had a meeting about which way it wanted to go on Thursday night. Not sure a resolution was reached though.

Either way the split is not a good result for us. Personally though I think we are better off going west. We will lose too many players if we go east who want to play a slightly better standard of football or don't want to travel to Warragul every second week and play against blokes you don't know.

Is the club in a stronger position than it was 10 years ago when you came into the Ellinbank League in the first place??

Whatever happens the league and the VCFL will have the final say anyway I assume. And the VCFL has told the league and clubs they are not allowed to approach anyone from other leagues.

I think if we could get Warragul, Drouin and Tooradin and have 9 and 9 it would work perfectly but the VCFL and Gippy league wouldnt let that happen.

When it left West Gippsland it was more to do with not being able to compete with Beaconsfield & Pakenham rather than Cora Lnn, Nar Nar Goon etc. We have played in 3 Grand Finals since crossing over to Ellinbank so I wouldn't say we are uncompetitive. Even this year we have had close losses to Garfield, NNG, Catani etc. Get a player or two back from injury and they can easily be wins.

Juniors are obviously a bit of an issue with no U/18s though and that is another thing the club would have to consider.

hey Plugger you would of been rapt on the weekend we had an umpire in the 3rds game call a kid for over stepping on a kick out, the only thing is he was standing in the centre circle at Darnum and over ruled the controlling umpire who was 20 metres from the kick in haha, other then that I have to say they were very good all day across all grades until the last 10 mins of the senior game when they had too much of an impact on the game sending a player off for a fight he wasn't even near and giving him a week. We had our chance to win but kicked a point then they went straight down and kicked the sealing goal.

Dusties can't make up there mind on what there doing, first of all they wanted to go west for the better standard of football but now they want to go east. Axe Man could you shed some light on this? Do we all just have to wait until you blokes decided what your doing and when to do it?

From what I have just been told, the clubs voted 9-5 in favor of the split, with one. Lib abstaining.

West
Bunyip
Garfield
NNG
Cora Lyn
Catani
Koo Wee Rup
Lang Lang

east

The rest

From what I have been told bards is correct, 8 in the east including Dusties, 7 in the west. Apparently Lang Lang wanted to come east as well but were not allowed as obviously that would not leave enough teams in the west. Catani were keen for the east as well if Lang Lang were going there.

For us it has been a tough decision with a lot of differing opinions within the club. No matter which way we go there are going to be pros and cons.

I'm also told that the split is not certain to start next year at this stage, there are still some further things to work through.

Do you think Dusties will be able to keep players like Brewster by going to the lower division??

Which 5 clubs voted against it?

I'm not sure about any individual players in particular but I think it's inevitable we will lose players by going to the lower division. We had to weigh that up against the ever increasing spending spree required to compete with the western clubs. Sorry, no idea about the voting.

Axe Man as far as I know Dusties were the only ones that didn't want the split next season. Majority are all for it for next season just the divide was the issue. Good too see some progress and that I will one day get to play against you again mate.

Lang Lang were against it and I would think teams like Catani and Nyora probably were too.

Pretty sure you would find that a few teams from the West were against it. Bunyips position was to sort out the juniors first before worrying about splitting the comp. Looking from the outside the teams left in the west woud be better if they could find a couple of more clubs, at least 1, but ideally three. Where would they come from though? The west split almost puts it back to the old west Gippy league, maybe Phillip Island and Killcunda Bass will come back for old times sake? There are thirteen in Alberton, but I'm sure they are all quite happy there in the post wonthaggi era. Will be interesti

Nyora definitely want the split and need it bad. I think you'll find that the bottom 6 teams as of today(except Lang Lang but including Longwarry) need that split like a cure for cancer. Fact is that every year for the past 3-4 years it has been progressively harder for us and others to keep being competitive with the top sides. The gap is getting further and further apart as every year goes on.

To get other clubs in is gonna be mission impossible. VCFL won't let most of it happen.
Yarragon - Mid gippy league has 10 teams(perfect), closely located(perfect). The panthers would probably fit in really well with the east league but the extra team is probably needed in the west league????
Drouin/Warragul - VCFL won't **** this league up again. There is finally enough teams of similar town size and strength and despite Moe being terrible at the moment, there time will come again soon with their ground and rooms being top notch.
Bass/ Phillip Island - Geographicly a bad idea. It didn't work 10 years ago and it won't now. Similar ability to plenty of other teams in the Alberton league.
Tooradin - Despite injuries this year leaving them uncompetitive at times, why would they want to go from a top 3 side in Casey Cardinia last year to Ellinbank league next year????? Would be a step backwards for them.

As for Bunyip. They clearly have their head up their own arse. It must be pretty easy for them to take priority on the junior situation when 3 of their teams are sitting on top of the ladder undefeated. These pricks cocked up the juniors in the first place, highlighting the loop hole for other self centered knobs like Garfield to follow suit. For example, how could Nyora argue with Bunyip about the future of the juniors when the chances are we won't be playing them again anyway.

THIS WAS JUST POSTED ON THE EDFL FACEBOOK PAGE.
RESTRUCTURE OF ELLINBANK & DISTRICT FOOTBALL LEAGUE

An initiative driven by the Club Delegates voted at the Ellinbank and District Football League monthly meeting to restructure the league.
The restructure followed geographical lines with a Division to be based at the western end and one in the East.
The Steering Committee which consisted of representatives of all clubs and netball made recommendations to the decision making body of the EDFL, the delegates. Members of the Steering committee consulted with their clubs which included the netball fraternity.
The Western Division to consist of Nar Nar Goon, Garfield, Cora Lyn, Kooweerup, Bunyip, Catani and Lang Lang.
The Eastern Division will comprise of Nyora, Poowong, Ellinbank, Nilma Darnum, Warragul Industrials, Buln Buln, Neerim Neerim South and Longwarry.
As the need arises there will be a review of the structure as the League sees fit so it is not a plan to which the League is locked into.
The matter of the naming of the two sections/divisions is still to be determined.
At this stage of discussions, there is no talk of promotion and relegation.
However the composition of the groups may change, depending on the number of teams available the League.
If a team from a neighbouring western league opts to join the Ellinbank and District Football League, a reshuffle could take place which may see Lang Lang transferred to the East group.
The restructure will be introduced in either 2014 or 2015 depending on a vote to be taken at the July meeting.

Hmmm interesting especially the part about Lang Lang moving to the East if they can find other teams.

Wonder who the other teams they are looking to get are.

Axe Man can shed some light on it, I heard they want to go west whilst some of there big name players are still contracted next season and come back east when the money runs out, in saying that there is people in the club that want to just go east straight away. I know for our club our Netball want the split the way it looks to be going because all of there rivalries are with the likes of Ellinbank, Dusties Poowong and Neerim.

A contract in country football means absolutely nothing so if they wanted to leave then they could.

Smiliing Doctor. Tooradin finished 3rd last year and were a long way off a flag, I dont think they can get any better. Garfield were in a similar position when they came into the league, Tooradin will never have the juniors to compete with those clubs. Bass and Phillip Island are not that far away, Think clubs would rather drive and extra 15 minutes to have a competitive game rather than a 100 point win or lose.

Unless I'm missing something it's already decided that we will be in the East. It's plainly obvious that there will be players that wont want to play in the lesser division. The majority of the senior playing group favoured the West, however the other members, supporters, junior parents, etc wanted to go East and that's the way the club decided. Piezy I've not heard anything along the lines of what you are saying re: contracted players, etc - sounds like bollocks to me.

Fair call mate you know the old rumour mill can get going pretty good when it comes to these things. Hopefully the clubs vote to get it done for next season and get it over and done with. Clubs need to start planning for next year even though we are barely halfway through this season.
