I like Jack. I always have liked Jack. He's been held solely responsible for the last 5 years, he's done his time and now he's been given a second chance. Everyone deserves a second chance.

If he does manage to turn the fortunes of the club around, what will you all say then? Is that when you'll say "Welcome back Jack" or will you still put the knife into him?
Let's not forget one thing, Jack may have been part of the admin that almost brought this club to it's knees, but he also helped to make this club great.

Never doubt Jack's love and passion for this club. He bleeds blue.
This is his chance to make up for his sins and perhaps we should all give him the space to do it.

To put my 2 cents worth WELCOME BACK JACK. Seriously guys if the man is not on our board and is going to do everything he can to make Carlton better than who really cares. Ask yourself this

1. Can YOU single handed bring to the club $500,000 in donations and X amount of potential major sponsors??

2. Would you have been able to lure ******** PRATT back to our club or any1 with a tenth of his stature??? Now don't get fooled here, it was Elliot that did all the ground work to bring Pratt to the club. And I know this for a fact and by not reading the newspapers. Sticks was more just the in real estate terms the auctioneer as apposed to the agent.

Guys the guy is here to help. He would do anything to help the club. "Anything I can do for Carlton I will. Carlton has been my life, I love the club and will do anything ******** asks me to do". Now I'm sure we all feel like this but do we have the pulling capacity as he does?? If so that’s great. The more the merrier I say.

yeah and it ended like all of Elliot's business adventures, in total ruin.

I didn't particulary love those days. For the most part we under achieved. For all the talent and rorting we got one premiership This may count as glory for a team like St Kilda but i have high expectations of Carlton.

For the most part i found those days frustrating as I watched Parkin continually sacrifice our future for his own personal glory. Everyone could see the collapse coming. When we got caught rorting that just delayed what was always going to be a long rebuilding process.

IF John Elliot really loves Carlton then he will stay away and make a donation. ALready he is shooting of his big trap about returning to Princess Park. This is called nostalgia, it's a nice thought but not feasible. Remeber the Legends Stand? I thought that was Big JAcks idea? Another financial disaster for the club. I remember turning up to games and seeing that stand about a quarter full.

I believe John Elliott loves Carlton but he's a cheat and he's incompetent.

Get lost Jack and take your mates Kernahan, Gleeson, Williams etc with you

U can't tell me there are no other passionate Carlton well connected business types on the East Coast who couldn't do exactly what Jack is rumoured to be doing for us.....how do we know if he still has the pulling power anyway he's been through more investigations in the last 10 years is any one still talkng to him....if he wants to help then OK put him behind the bar in the social club and watch the dollars roll in through there...keep him out of the spotlight it's been hard enough being a Carlton member living in WA over the last few years without having to contend with all the crap which will come from this....

One of the reasons Pratt didnt come back to the club earlier is because none of his old mates were around the club. It now appears that Elliot is part of the reason Pratt came back, and if along the way he can do some good for the club then he deserves a second chance.

Sure they were great. He went out and bought players. He was still trying to do that when you no longer could, ruining the club to take it where it is today.

He's not on the board. He is chairing a coterie group. A group put together for the benefit of the club. He is trying to get all the old wealthy supporters and corporates back to the club. If anyone can do that, then Jack can.

Will we get any apology, or even an admission that he did anything wrong? No.
As passionate as he is about this club, it only serves to boost his ego. Every chance he has had in the media over the past few years he has ripped into the current board, and babbled on about his old dreams of making PP the second main ground in Melbourne (was never going to happen once they canned the lights idea).

If he truly cared all these years about the welfare of our club he would have taken responsibility for what he did and set about trying to fix it with his influence then.........not now.

I'm happy to have him back to assist raising funds, because whether he admits it or not, finally he may be trying to fix what he did wrong.........but second chance........you've got to be joking.

I have stuck with this club through thick and thin, but if Pratt uses his power to take us back to the bad old days, then I, along with many others I suspect will be gone. Why. Because I won't willingly float back towards the ******** we just came through!

Yes Elliot made a mistake a big one....

But to bring him back solely to help raise money is good.... if He's able to raise at least $1million to compensate for our fine for sal-cap rorting that eases a bit of our pain, and at least paves the way for some forgiveness.

Elliot screwed up big time and we'll forever be cautious of him!!! I doubt he'll become the successor to Pratt after his reign (members and the like will prob not allow it!).

Lets give him some chance to make up for a bit of his sins and help us pay off the debt that he created.

As a few other posters have alluded to, I only want Elliot to do two things. I would like him to admit that he left the club in a poor state due to his salary cap rorting, and I want him to keep his mouth shut and work BEHIND the scenes only. What has always bugged me is his lack of remorse for what he AND Lofts did. It makes me think back to the old adage that the more you tell the same lies over and over, the more you start to believe them yourself.

If big jack had his way carlton would not have lost wells + goddard , collo is the one who surcame to pressure of afl , why blame it all on jack you have chief financial officers at the club who get paid. why did they let the club get to position.John Elliot is a scapegoat for all these other people on board not doing there jobs.Collo was sent to carlton to get us out of optus oval and to telstra dome.plus get AFL out of there contract to play games optus.we still should look to the courts for breach of contracts by the AFL.
