I noticed it too, maybe he's just feeling flat about something in his own life and he's just the sort of guy who tends to mope. Wouldn't worry unless it's still going on in a month or so

It happened twice. Be lying if I said it wasn't notable. Pretty sure he's just dirty on his goal scoring form but needs to keep his chin up and encourage the young blokes like DeGoey too.

That's how Elliot is and always has been since hes been at Collingwood and theres nothing wrong with it. Frankly its bullshit that people expect you to act like the majority as if its there is only one correct way to behave. Elliot is clearly in a slump and its affecting his mentality.

Rather the Collingwood supporters should be getting behind Elliot instead of condemning him as if people aren't allowed to be unhappy or sad. Understand its a normal emotion thats not easy to get rid of.

I doubt varcoe is thinking 'I set that goal up for you, show me some respect!!!' it's probably more along the lines of 'Elliot has been having a tough time lately, we should give him a break and understand hes in a down state'

I think most people probably understand his mindset and how he is reacting but he is part of a team and he's playing a role even if not exactly as he'd like.

I think Billy might be struggling with some personal issues at the moment. Against Hawthorn in the third quarter he was on the bench and looking like he was on the verge of tears - Buckley went over to console him.

Hopefully nothing serious - the kid definitely looks like he is going through something at the moment.

^this.

Elliot spent a lot of time in the midfield - and probably had the biggest impact in the midfield that I have seen him have. Bucks also seem to have a word with him at one of the breaks (QT?) and I'm sure that would've been some sort of encouragement to play his roles within the team.

But despite his otherwise good play, I think he knows that the media and fan pressure is on him scoring (and that may then also be how he rates his own games, but hopefully not), and therefore he might be a little shitty with himself for not getting a goal when it was there.

Could be worse, Broomy usually looks like someone just died when he kicks a goal!

He cracks me up. Seems like such a calm character on the field. I don't mind it though. There's positives in both the pumped up excited celebration and the calm taking care of business celebration that Broomy has. I noticed on one of the Black and White shows they had a question about worst celebrators and Broomy got a few mentions, so they boys are on to it. I swear the next game he kicked a goal and Fasolo went past and told him to get excited. As long as they're giving thanks to teammates efforts. Minor stuff like that is important in such a team orientated game like footy. Varcoe makes a huge effort, get around him!. Much more likely to do it next time then. Elliot looks like something is up, but it's not hard to acknowledge a teammate who's given you a sausage.

On face value, Elliott's reaction is a bit weird and easy to make something out of if you want to. The reality is, he often doesn't get that excited, and there are numerous instances over numerous seasons where he's barely celebrated a goal, if at all, either by him or the team.

Noticed this too. Starting to act like an arrogant twerp. Thinks hes so good and a bit of a pretty boy.

Lol, you're projecting. :$:thumbsu:

Do you think he's pretty do you Krueger?

Glad someone else noticed this too.

Bottom line, no matter who you are... When your team mate busts his chops to keep a ball in that was destined to go out of bounds, thumps it in your direction and hands you an easy goal, the first thing you do is go over to him and high five or whatever. Billy ran the other way and it was up to Varcoe to chase him down...

Poor effort Billy. It's a team game no matter how crap your form is.

And for the posters here saying this is an over reaction, well you've obviously never played a team sport, or at least been part of a team with a winning culture...

I think the only option is to strap him into a rocket and fire him towards the sun. It'll prove to him that's where the sun is really shining from.

Didn't like it. Particularly the De Goey goal. Looked not only sulky but pissed off. You don't want a forward line where some players are looking out for their own patch and are pissed off when others score. Recipe for dysfunction and atomisation.

And what do you base this load of nonsense on?

Spare us the throw away lines would you because we all know that if you use throw away lines, you clearly don't have a brain. :drunk:
