age does not equal experience. surely someone like you would know ellis speant his first yr on Hawthorn's list playing school football as he finished VCE?Good game by Ellis and really has shown a little of why he was selected at number 3. The only thing Ellis has on Gibbs is age, a whole year infact but Gibbs has about 5 light-years on Ellis as far as Talent goes. Gibbs has shown match-winning ability while stopping some of the games greats and to get 7 votes in the back-half of the season in a losing side is remarkable for a teenager. Ellis played well, but Gibbs by the length of 1,100 flemington straights.
oh how can i forget, hawthorn supports arent allowed to bring facts into an argument.
whatimtalkingbout said:In the system . . . he was hitting the books for his VCE in his first year . . . no football at all. Not even reserve level.

What....you mean facts like these?
So playing for Melbourne Grammar and Box Hill doesn't count?
We are well aware of the type of "facts" brought to the table here.

So you were wrong then.He played for Box Hill when Melbourne Grammar had a bye. High school football doesn't count, surely![]()
So you were wrong then.
So when you saidSure, technically i was wrong. He played two games for Box Hill when Grammar had a bye![]()
The point however is that he was playing school football in 2006. So this is his 2nd AFL year.
given you are clearly aware that not only did he play football ALL year, but several of those games were at VFL level, or what is now effectively the reserves.............basically, you were lying to make your arguement sound stronger......right?.........I mean technically.no football at all. Not even reserve level.

Why just cut and paste your previous post?If we're going to be pedantic then, yes he did play football with melbourne grammar and two Box hill games. Missed a lot of the season with a foot injury and was doing his VCE. The point is he wasn't an AFL player in 2006.

Why just cut and paste your previous post?
I won't follow suit.
You lied. Cop it.![]()

Right. Just so long as we have established you are prepared to lie to make your point. Now:Oh ok
Anyway, we can agree then that they are both two year players, unless you really want to count Ellis' year playing for Melbourne Grammar (and box hill during the bye round)![]()

Right. Just so long as we have established you are prepared to lie to make your point. Now:
Did he do pre-season with the Hawks after he was drafted?
Did he train with the Hawks during 2006?![]()
well he was on an afl list and had access to afl facilities and the opportunity to train and prepare himself for afl football with an afl club. just because he didn't play a game it doesn't mean hes had 1 less year in the system. the fact is he is over a year younger than gibbs and alredy gibbs is twice the player he is.
But he didn't, he was training and preparing with Melbourne Grammar. And even then he missed a lot of the season with a foot injury and was doing his VCE. So you really can't say he was an AFL player in 2006, it's clutching at straws.
i think you're the one clutching at straws. fact is xaveir ellis was in the afl system a year before gibbs and had access to afl facilities and services.
Ellis was doing his VCE and playing and training with MG in 2006. What kind of afl facilities and services are you talking about exactly?
Gibbs played heaps of games in his debut year. In the AFL. For an AFL club.
well, are you telling me MG looked after ellis' rehab when he injured his foot? are you telling me that ellis didn't have access to tassie's gym equipment or their physios or their psychologists. do you honestly believe his first year in the afl system didn't help him acclimatise to afl at all?
and yes, gibbs did play heaps of games in his debut year which incidentally happened to be ellis' 2nd year, in which he was only good enough to play roughly half the amount of games that gibbs did.
Wow, they let him use their gym and he got to see a physio too! Only AFL players![]()
Ellis' debut year 2007
Gibbs' debut year 2007
Look it up. It's fact.
so you honestly believe that having a full year in the afl system is worth nothing??
I'm not going to debate this anymore.
Well piss off to the hole you dug yourself out of two days ago when all the glory was there for you to lap up!I'm not going to debate this anymore.
yes or no?? do you believe that having a full year in the afl system is worth nothing??
