Prediction Elusive Top 4 Now Gone Battle for 8

I can see a scenario where GCS sneak into the 8 tonight after managing to tie with Essendon.

Not really. I can't for the life of me see a way Essendon get within five goals of the Suns.

It's going to be a long and painful offseason. This season was unlike any we've previously experienced. Never again will a team lose 9 matches with the highest losing margin being 22 points.

I actually don't know what to expect for next season. One part of me acknowledges our list is Top 4 quality. One part of me knows our coaching team is below standard. Another part of me realises we were so close to beating every team in the top 8 this season bar Hawthorn, which should fill supporters with confidence heading into 2026. Then there's the part where we've never finished higher than 5th under Bevo and always seem to piss away opportunities to finish top 4.

I guess you can say this about a lot of opposition supporters, but I honestly believe us supporters deserve better than the same shit being served up year after year. I include 2016 and 2021 in that. While the final outcomes in those seasons were great by making it to the GF and winning a flag, there were still elements of those seasons that punched us where it hurts. Ongoing injuries in 2016 pissed away any chance we had of a top four finish, while the way we finished the 2021 Home & Away season remains tough to swallow.

I'm not asking for perfection. I'd love to win our first ever minor premiership, win at least seven matches in a row (something we haven't achieved since 1987) and obviously go on to win the flag. It's not actually asking that much given there are many teams who have achieved that. In fact, it happened in each of the 2021, 2022 and 2023 seasons.

Last two years have been a bit shit for supporters because the decisions we made as a club, the coaching, the list management, the effort by players, the consistency, whatever you want to call it, were far better than in 2019, 2020 and in 2022. In those seasons the rest of the league played out in such a way that we managed to be very close to winning finals, despite the fact across the season as a whole we played far worse.

We want to think that if you do everything right a premiership will be inevitable, but that's not always the case. It's entirely fine to say that some teams are luckier than others.

In what is potentially a perfect and hilarious summation of our year, Gresham is out of the game tonight for "personal reasons". Anyone who has read the BF Rumour thread might know why this is amusing - assume the personal reason is due to some potential unrest between him and Caddy!
Sorry to ask what is this about?

There was a rumor doing the rounds that he may have been involved in some late nights (and potentially early mornings?) with a particular young Bomber key forwards mother.
