Only Adelaide has won more quarters than us this year, we're currently at 58 quarters won, while they're at 64. Our issue has been losing quarters by big margins, giving up runs of unanswered goals, particularly in the first five weeks...

So pretty much since our Captain came back twice yet early in the season some had the audacity to question his impact in terms of leadership

IF
We beat Freo
Melbourne beat Pies
Saints beat Giants
Brisbane beat Hawks
Port beat Suns

We finish top 4
Bevo doesnt deal with top 4 :p

The dogs and Collingwood are the only teams in the top 9 that lost a home game during gather round so it has had a massive impact on the ladder if you ask me in a season where one more win is massive.

Working with the ladder predictor around the games tonight and the Lions/Hawks game (this will presume that we win, GWS beat the Saints, and the Suns beat the Bombers):
  • Pies/GC/Lions: Almost definitely play GWS away (unless they can make up 6% on the Suns, or 8% on the Pies. In which case we play the lowest % of the three).
  • Pies/GC/Hawks: Could be any of the Pies/Hawks/Suns. Will depend on who has the 3rd lowest % of GWS/Suns/Hawks/Pies, Giants most likely lowest, but there is very little difference between the Pies/Hawks/Suns (1.6% between the three). Given the Hawks play the Lions and win, it would be hard for them to win by more than the Suns and Pies, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was the Pies. This would be away.
  • Dees/GC/Lions: Either Pies or Hawks at the G, depending on which of the two has the highest % (which there is only 0.4% difference). There'll be a few points either way, but it will be nearly come down to which of those two lose by the least as to who we play.
  • Dees/GC/Hawks: The Lions away, no other possibility available here.
  • Pies/Port/Lions: Either Hawks or Suns at the G, depending on which of the two has the highest % (which there is only 1.5% difference).
  • Pies/Port/Hawks: The Lions away, no other possibility available here.
  • Dees/Port/Lions: "Home" final of whomever has the lowest % of the Pies/Hawks/Suns. The GWS Saints game would become of huge interest in this game as if the above happens, we win, the Saints win, we would play Adelaide in Adelaide most likely in a qualifying final (or the Cats at the G if Adelaide poop the bed against Norf).
  • Dees/Port/Hawks: Either the Pies or the Suns at the G depending on which of the two has the highest %.

So if we win we’re looking at a final v hawks or lions now really right?
Probably come down to % between the Hawks & the Suns if the Hawks lose Sunday. Suns could easily pass their % & mean they finish 7th with us 6th. Hawks win and I think it’s the Lions 🤷‍♂️

If every favourite wins from here, we'll be 6th and will meet either Hawks or GCS.

That'll make the final GCS v Ess game a great watch for us.

We'll know the exact margin GCS need to rise to 7th and meet us

If we win we want the following:

Hawks to lose

Suns to win

With the combined loss and win to be 40 points.

Then if giants win we plays suns in Melbourne

If giants lose we play giants in Melbourne

We don’t want hawks to win though,, if they do we plays lions in Brisbane unless giants were to lose

Lions away definitely worse case

Gold Coast in Melbourne is who you'd want most out of the nine. The footy gods have been very generous to us for that to happen, that situation didn't seem possible. An all time choke from the Suns to miss top 4

Though you may have a better opportunity finishing top 4, the evenness of the top 8 means any team is a chance.

We know we won a flag from 7th playing 2 interstate finals and made a Grand Final playing 2 interstate away finals and a interstate home final. Oh and last years premiers 3 interstate finals.

Lets just win on Sunday then worry about all other prognostications

It looks highly unlikely we play the Hawks. GC will easily take care of Essendon and finish higher on % over the Hawks if they lose.

If we win, it’ll either be GC at the MCG or the Lions at the Gabba.

Pretty simple, we win this week we have to win 4 finals in a row.

If we are good enough, which personally I don't think we quite have enough experience this year, but if we are good enough we can beat anyone and have been is a position too against all possible opponents this year.

Get along to Sundays game and make sure we are the 19th player on the ground
