SUPPORT JOE!! he deserves it after the recent media and afl (the recent fine had uncanny timing didnt it) backlash on him.

Judging from the posts on this board Joseph has touched the passion of a lot of people from all clubs. He is getting shafted by the Demon big knobs and it seems the media is doing a real job on him too.

At least Derryn Hinch has come out to have enough balls to be on Joe's side...may he get the Shame files out and look at the current Melb board.

You have already made up your mind to out Joe, when you have not even done any research or heard his version of event.s..but that's typical of some members we have had Melbourne...they never liked Joe,...for various reasons ...if I state them I will be sued.

Its no wonder this club is split in two....the elitists social set and the plebs (as we in the red seats have been called) and if you don't meet the criteria (as poor Joe) you get stabbed in the back.!!

What is the fact that I am an MCC Member got anything to do with the fact I don't support Joe Gutnick?
As for the money, as much as we get it, at what price. All this contreversy and it is also rumoured that it has cost us a lot in sponsorship and membership.
As for the merger, Gutnick is the one that keeps bringing it up, no one else on the board. That should be in the past now.
OK Ms Storm, if you think I know nothing, what is Gutnick's vision?

Interestingly i play indoor cricket with a Melbourne supporter who is as passionate as they come, he has always maintained that Joe is good for the club, but he will refuse to vote for him if an election is forced during the season. Why couldnt Joe wait 'till the end of the year? The board didnt sack Joe, Joe quit. The turmoil at the moment is of his doing. I hope Joe is not lost to the MFC, but i believe he has lost some support over his recent actions, even Neale Daniher is pleading with him to wait 'till the seasons over

Thanks for helping me reply to some of queries being held over Joe's head at the moment.

Joe's stance in having an election at the moment was brought on by two most recent cases of backstabbing and leaking to the press only just over the last 2 weeks....the main one being the David Schwartz leak to the press and Joes statement to the press in the same instance.....and also the bungled attempt to introduce Walker as next President and overthrow Joe...ALL WHILE JOE WAS OVERSEAS...NICE BOARD THAT ONE.

Can't you all see he's had a gutful...and can't take anymore.

And it is true, Directors (not Szondy or O'Connor tho) DID TURN UP TO MEETINGS DRUNK...this can be verified by recent ex-Directors... one Director fell off his chair at a recent AGM ....and each time Joe was overseas, there would be a leak to the press to discredit him...with a bungled attempt by Ian Johnson (false) to play down the matter...it was a continuous saga...mimicks of him behind his back, racial abuse (behind his back), etc.

I say good on ya Joe.......they suck and I would have done the same.

Unfortunately if Joe did not have his spill now, supporters would soon forget him and I am sure some passion would wane as these current directors are doing so much mud slinging now, they would have even more time to do more.

My theory overall on this issue is that the AFL WANT JOE OUT...AND somehow are behind all this.
Also with Joe leaving the Liberal Camp, would not have helped his cause.
There are many, many reasons why the press are onside with the current board and it stinks, and I am sure most people are able to see thru this fale veil.

The timing of the fine was done at Joes request, he asked the AFL to delay announcing the decision 'till he got back from o/s. Still thats not as exciting as a good conspiracy theory

I've been watching this debate with great interest over the past few months, but been a Hawthorn member I've no strong opinion one way or the other.

Without a doubt the biggest mistake Joe made was not sacking the original board as soon as the merger was thwarted by the mighty Hawks in 1996. The Hawthorn board all resigned and the changing of the guard was quick and smooth, and look at Hawthorn now, top 2 side with over 30,000 members and financial (and board) stability.

It's also shown just how different each club is and how the merger would never have worked anyway. Hawthorn is a member based club, while Melbourne has a lot of other factions to consider such as the MCC, Liberal Party etc....

Joe was right to attempt to get rid of the board, it's just the timing could have been a lot better. But look at the letters in the papers or ask anyone, Gutnick will walk this election in because the MEMBERS of the MFC know without him the club is in deep trouble indeed.

Hopefully Gutnick will also get rid of the MCC from the MFC board, as they have nothing to do with each other.
