Embarrassing

How many times did Scott Stevens’ direct opponent mark inside forward 50?! How many times??????????

Not many. Steveo gave away a couple of bad frees, and turned the ball over too much, but he stuck with his man pretty well. Often was on Bradley or Sandilands.
Davis (before he went off) and Otten were the two who continuously lost their men.

Probably gonna get rolled for saying this, but unless we get anyone back from injury next week (Doughty or Sauce ready?) we should be going into the showdown unchanged.

Players should be (and will be) ashamed about what was put up this week, and should be eager to set things right. Rather than knee-jerk dropping players, better to show a little faith that they will put in.

Actually, I forgot about Davis. Who comes in for him?

Have to look at it in context of past performances.

Agree with this re Hendo who put up one stinker but is an otherwise promising young player.

However, when Maric (amongst others perhaps like Symes) put it performances like that which they've done before, and they don't have the excuse of inexperience, and they don't have the potential ceiling of a Hendo, then for mine HEADS SHOULD ROLL! Always getting a 2nd, 3rd, 4th chance allows for complacency and mediocrity. A guy like Maric sucks for a month, gets fired up for one decent game and everyone loves Ivan again.

I think some are marking Jaensch harshly. Got 17 possessions in a tough position to play when your team sucks. 2 good shots on goal, with some others that were admittedly (and uncharacteristically) poor. But overall i thought it was a decent first up hit out for 2011. Deserves his spot for next week (unlike many others who will be gifted theirs)
16 of those 17 possessions failed to hit a target. The only one which DID was his 60m bomb, with less than 40 seconds on the clock before the end of the game. To that point in time, he was right up there with Henderson - batting 0% in the disposal efficiency ratings.

I'll tell you what's embarrassing. This thread. I am ashamed to support the same club as some of you idiots. One loss and Craig needs to be sacked and the world is caving in. Absolutely hate this board with a passion after a loss. OP is an absolute clueless clown.

And the same old players getting picked on, despite being in our best. So many cringeworthy posts from idiots.

59% disposal efficiency.

How about his handball to Vince for the goal? How about his 5 goal involvements? Don't be stupid now... :thumbsu:

Clown.

We were soft yesterday, losing comfortably at home to Fremantle, now that is pathetic. And it's not that we lost, it's how we lost, putting forward minimal effort. And what's disturbing is that over the past 12 months this has happened regularly, and you can often tell within the first 5 minutes which Adelaide side has turned up, the good one, or the woeful one. We can all handle losing, but when very little effort is displayed, that's when people start getting angry. Neil Craig loves to go on about competitiveness, well in so many of our games we fail to be just that, competitive. Yesterday was simply not good enough, and we're seeing it on a far too regulas basis, but as long as you and your mates say that we're being knee-jerk, then there is no issue...

Don't feel ready until I re-watch that mess to comment on the game. Statistics show that my head was in my hands for about 80% of the game :(

Recent tweet from Bernie:

Apologies for a very poor team effort yesterday. Very dissapointing! On the up side, no better game to bounce back in than a showdown!!

Jaensch had disposal efficiency of 59% mate, which means 10/17 went where intended...not one. If we're hanging blokes for not hitting targets, then everyone including Dangerfield (52%), Walker (57%), Knights (50%) and McKernan (40%) deserve to wear it too.

If you look closely at the champion data stats, you'll see that Jaensch applied the most pressure to the opposition of any of the crows players, making 30 pressure acts.

The fact that we are reacting to a loss so badly is another indicationt hat perhaps we are overrating ourselves again.
WE ARE NOT EVEN CLOSE TO A TOP 4 TEAM! Get ideas of premiership glory this year out of your heads!

Average age on saturday was around 23.5 and and average games was still under 75 with 9 players not having reached 50 games. Further, our "stars" are largely unproven. As our list stands right now, we have 1, maybe two stars: Scott Thompson and Johncock. We will make the 8, just. But we are not going to be CONSISTENTLY competitive with true top 4 contenders like Collingwood, Geelong, St Kilda, WB, Essendon and Hawthorn: all of whom probably have between 3-6 players who are as good as, or better, than our best (currently). We will, however, compete with these teams and at times come away with a win (i.e. Rd 1)

I think we are a 3 year proposition, in the next 3 we wont lose many but our 2nd and 3rd tiers will have 75 games under their belt - very beneficial and it makes our 5 worst players on the ground a whole heap better than they are now.

Anyway, that's my rant, take it for what its worth but don't jump the off the side yet, just expect less, as supporters we're more critical and vicious on our own side than any other in the world!

otten was worst on ground.

Yeah he was. Luke Thompson must be a chance to come in for him... he was shocking today... lumbered around and complete reactive to everything that happened.

Really? The way we played was pathetic but losing to Freo isn't pathetic, give some credit to them. They'll be good this year.

I'm not denying any of that. It was a shocking performance and there are several areas to work on, but some of the statements in here and unbelievably moronic, yet predictable from this board. We must have the whiniest supporter base on Bigfooty. Whenever we lose, at least 5 players need to be dropped and Craig as our coach is questioned. Every single time. It's a ****ing joke. This board is a truly horrible and depressing place to be after a loss and yes I know I'm on here now but only to voice my frustration at idiot and quite nasty supporters. Will return midweek when people have calmed the **** down and realised its round 3 and the sky isn't falling.

but as long as you and your mates say that we're being knee-jerk, then there is no issue...

Lol it's clearly a kneejerk thread.

Some points from yesterday

Pavlich milestone game.
Young Crows coming off 1 game in the last 4 week period.
Slow starts in first 2 games
Wet conditions
Day game
High injury count from round 1
unsettled team.
Our best player returns after 2 months without game time.
Definitely over hyped since Hawthorn win.
Fremantle just too good.

Perhaps we were never going to win that game and at least now we've had a much needed reality check.

True - very frustrating.

That's a cop out. Fremantle played in the same conditions and they played better than us.
There was only a few light showers. For most of the game it was a little windy but other than that it was fine.
Trucks milestone game to.

WE PLAYED FREMANTLE, AT HOME.

Give me a freaking break, such weak supporters we have. :thumbsd:

yes we have played two top 4 contenders in the opening rounds and is not so much the loss against Freo that bothers me it is the manner in which we played which is the biggest concern...

personally I am a little tired of the standard "we pride our self on our competitiveness" line that has been continuously used over the past 18 months, however what I am looking for is a strong rebounding showdown performance.....

I have no doubt that being a showdown game Port will re-load this week, drop some of their youngsters and bring in the likes of Surjan, Pettigrew, Ebert and even Salopek.

However if we are serious about playing finals in 2011 we should belt Port and it needs to start in the midfield, dominate here and we will win easily and then life should return to some normality

Me too. Especially when it's been one of the main things we've been lacking.

So what? We're in 2011 Drummond. Fremantle aren't the easybeats they once were. The sooner you realise that the sooner you'll see how stupid you sound.

Easybeats is the perfect description for us yesterday - that's why people are so disappointed.

We didn't go down fighting desperately; we basically capitulated the moment the ball was bounced.

Ahh right-o, so because Freo are good, it means we’re excused for being useless squibs who looked disinterred? Got ya! :thumbsu:
