Embley gone? *OLD THREAD FROM 2002, Have a Laugh*

I think Embley is a bit of a [d]ickhead.

I've had mates tell me they've seen him at The Cott and he walks around ten foot tall cos he has played 50 games for the Eagles, and introduces himself to chicks as a West Coast Eagle player, trying to impress.

I guess some blokes just don't like it, can you blame them?

After all the **** surrounding the club with off-field incidents, youd think blokes would trying to pull their heads in.

Not Embley obviously. Three incidents which have been reported and others I have heard about from reliable sources seem to indicate to me he is an A1 ******** off the field. Sad really because he used to be one of my favorites, but it seems he has a discipline problem, might be why he can never establish himself fully in the team, not enough discipline to push himself, and just coasting along on what natural talent he has. Well we have a younger player in his mould in the form of Haynes, time to give him the opportunites Embley has squandered over the past few years I believe.

Considering his place on the clubs list isnt guaranteed; i wouldve thought he'd try to keep a low key.....

I dont mind if he's traded, not sure what we can get for him tho

Surely, with each of these off field endeavours of Embley`s, interest from other clubs (if any) will wane.

He`s not good enough to be worth the effort that would be needed to keep him in line.

All of the incidents this year, what with the boozing and fighting, have really shaken my apparently naive beliefs that our club really stands for something in the football world.

A pox on them all.

We do not want to be the next richmond and st kilda(don't take this personally supporters of this team) with our off field behaviour continuing how it has been this year, it has been terrible. We need to crack down hard on it, tade embly, punish players who do it(as we have) and continued offenses get them out of this club because we do not tolerate it(as i am sure Woosha won't and this will all be part of what he sorts out)

How far has the club let its hair down with the Judge years?

I'm also of the opinion that our clubs reputation has taken a hammering in recent seasons

Now is our chance to crack down on trouble makers and bring our reputation back to what it was - its all up to Woosha now

Trade him.

We simply dont need this with our club. We were once a proud professional club, now it seems we are sinking to the level of some other less professional clubs. I won't name them, but I am sure many will know who I mean.

This year, too many of our players have broken the line. It's time for Woosha to pull these blokes in or get rid of them.

he's not the first that's for sure.

Agreed.

You play for an AFL side, there are plenty of chickiebabes out there. Most players want to bed them, (Carey anyone?) the chicks are happy to go along with it to enhance their so called reputation.

It's the nature of the game.

AFL players are treated as stars. Some deserve it, some don't.

Anyone see the front of the Sunday Times? Picture of the guy that got hit, looks pretty bad and apparently had stitches and one of his tear ducts was ripped open or something? Look like Embley really clobbered him!

Trade him. He isnt needed.

He probably has to go. A new club would do him the world of good. Your all right though- woosha has to do something about all of this stuff thats been going on. He has to do it now! Jump on then Woosha!

At least Mainwaring was actually an ok player :)

Never been a wrap for Embley, and he's almost at the point where he deserves to be delisted.

In the past all this publicity was kept "in house". Why the outbreak of negative publicity this year?
Even's Mainy's little 'escapades' really didn't generate as much newspaper and tv reporting as now.
But I agree with you all about Embley. If he put as much effort into his game as he does his social life, he would have been a better player for it! He didn't seem to know what he was doing sometimes on the field with stupid mistakes once he got the ball.

I think when MM was with us, he knew how to sort these problems out.

Since KJ came, professionalism slipped out of the window. I just hope Woosha can instill the professionalism back into the club.

It is getting a bit up yourself if you go around saying hey girls i am a West Coast player , big f*ckin deal! If people go up and ask then fair enuff, but this walking like you are 10 feet tall will get u into trouble sooner or later. Why can't Embley show some humility for once and stop acting like a d*ckhead? I bet he will actually get clobbered himself sooner or later. With all this publicity WC should trade or delist him, kinda like what we did with Martin Pike before.

Just based on his on field performances I believed he should be given one more year, but after his off field incidents, I believe he should be traded.

Would like to hear the whole story before saying more, but it doesn't look good.

Embley has really gone off the boil over the last 2 seasons and would have to start thinking of another AFL club or playing for Swan Districts, as I'm sure the club won't put up with him lowering the clubs standards and name.

Yeah your right, we dont know the full story, for all we know this guy who got hit was drunk and went up to Embley and started it. Embley has to defend himself. You see it happen all the time with drunken idiots just starting on people in clubs and pubs.

But Embley doesnt exactly have a clean past so....

Getting the Sunday Times is against my religious beliefs, but I saw that they had a big photo (on the front page, no less) of the other guy in the Embley incident.

Can anyone who actually buys the rag fill us in - was there anything more of any substance?

What annoyed me about that article, is the 'victim' saying he wasn't sure if he'd press charges, but was adament he wanted the club to be involved.

"The family has not decided yet whether it will make a formal complaint to the police. But Mr Airey says he is determined to have the Eagles' executive take the incident seriously."

Either, he's been assaulted and he presses charges, or he doesn't. I don't care either way, but it is not the Clubs problem - it's Andrew Embley's.

As far as I'm concerned, the whole story reeks of this guy using Embley's celebrity  to promote himself. Mind you the irony of it happening to a player who flaunts that status more than any other is rather amusing.... (No Andrew, it doesn't impress us, nor does it mean you can annoy us.)

Is there any way we can enforce a player ban at Club Bayview? Just out of curiousity.... ;)
