Does Hauritz actually spin the ball? Krezja atleast picked up 12 wickets in a game. Hauritz is a horrible bowler, most of his wickets a flukes. Not sure any other international side would pick him. Lets face it, Australian selectors a clueless. Dropping Hughes after a couple of cheap out and retaining Hussey after three years of failiure just about says all about Australian cricket.

Directionless!

At the moment maybe, but fact is we have seen how ordinary Krejza is against good players (Sth Africa). I'll take a leg spinner over an off spinner.

So Daniel Doran over Harbhajan Singh?

Of course you take a good leg spinner over a good off spinner. The problem is that leg spin is exceedingly hard to bowl, and even harder to bowl well. Bailey hasn't shown that he can bowl economically and take wickets at the same time. That is a worry for mine and suggests that most of his wickets come from batsmen getting themselves out to him - something international players that actually belong there do not do.

Hauritz is a better bowler than Krejza, sure he doesn't spin the ball as much but at least he can build some pressure which can lead to wickets. Haury did this well in the Ashes particularly to Strauss.

I was watching the Shane Warne master class and he mentioned being friends with the captain is real helpful, as he will keep you on for longer. So our spinners need to do some sucking up to the captains :p

So what's the point of the new reality tv series we have heard about?

Do you seriously think we are going to get a Test level spinner from a reality TV show? If they really wanted that they could film the bloke bowling day after day after day at a handerchief because that is what is takes, not spinnig one ball a mile in front of the camera.

So yeah powdered milk. :D

Not straight away, but I believe it could be an alternative way to identify talent that would not normally be presented to the people who need to see it.

It's often been mentioned that often the reasons that spinners struggle because they don't have the support of their captain, and they don't have the right fields. Add to this all the cricketers playing on small grounds throughout the country, perhaps there are a couple out there who have the talent, but lack the support around them to succeed.

Hm... Interesting BombersNo1.

Krejza took 13 wickets against the best players of spin in the world, on their own friendly doctored wickets to suit their play.

Might I add that he dismissed:

Sehwag (Bowled)
Dravid (Caught Bat Pad - Katich)
VVS Laxman (Caught Behind - /Haddin)
Ganguly (Caught Point?/Slip? - Clarke)
M.S Dhoni (Bowled)
Khan (Bowled)
Mishra (Bowled)
Sharma (Caught Bat Pad - Katich)

VVS Laxman (Bowled)
Ganguly (Caught & Bowled)
MS Dhoni (Caught?? - Hussey)
Khan (Caught Behind - Haddin)

So you are saying he is no good because he was not taking wickets on tracks that did not suit him? Yes he struggled in his couple of games following, he deseved to have an extended run in the senior side, circa Nathan Hauritz. For the record, I think Hauritz is doing a fine job.

a friendly doctored pitch to suit spin...
Plus if you look at his economy rate it seems that the Indians were giving Krezja every opportunity to get them out.
Also Ponting basically bowled Krezja pernamently.

You can only bowl on what is given to you. Yes he was hit around a little bit.

I think people are going to have to get over the "Shane Warne Factor" (SWF), which is, bagging at least 5 wickets in a match at an economy of less than 3.5 an over. With dangerous balls every ball bowled.

Warne was a freak, MacGill was a very able understudy, a very underrated bowler who actually had a just as impressive average than Warne.

The question I am posing to you is, Hauritz or Krezja??.

On your last comment, "Ponting basically bowled Krezja permanently", do you play to draw? or win?

Krejza ain't proving the selectors wrong for over looking him, hes going at 5.27. It is a first day pitch but still, you don't want your spinner going for that much.

Cullen Bailey - 2009
In his third match this year, averaging 107 (HS 91) with the bat, averaging 35 (9 wickets) with the ball.

Surely that's worth an Australian Call-Up!

If they did what NSW have been doing who knows, he might have been the one called to Perth. The selectors definitely want a young leggie.

Hauritz this series 11 wickets at 33 S/R of 67, the best we are going to get at the moment.

That is the big worry, if hes not able to take wickets on a helpful track then we have got problems. It was lucky that Watson managed to get the breakthrough in the 2nd innings or there would have been a lot more pressure put on Hauritz's spot.
