Desert War got softened up by Apache Cat, my suspicions were right about him being given a hard time out in front. Terriffic win by Divine Madonna though, all things said. Followed this mare for a while now, lovely sprint on her.
Yep, I was at Cheltenham the day she won on debut as a 2yo. Have followed her since but wasn't on her today. Good to see another SA win in a big race. :thumbsu:

Cheers mate, might just pop an interest bet on it. Love these horses that storm home from the back of the field though! Gets the blood pumping! :thumbsu:
well watch fullta next preparation. joke

sorry eastaugh but desert war was never going to get a lovely run, they wouldnt allow him to get a cheap lead again, and plus there was too many on pace runners in the race anyway.

I thought that from the barrier he drew that he would not have to work much early and would be positioned perfectly maybe 1 off. I paid dearly.

Baster's ride can't be under-estimated on Divine Madonna. The track was a bit easier for swoopers but the difference between his and McEvoys ride the week before was he got her starting to motor at the turn rather than after she had straightened up. This mare makes up so much ground in the final 200-100m it can be the difference between a fast finishing placing and a stunning win. No doubt the weight helped though :) Did overcome being checked a few times though

Bloody fantastic when things to come together and 2 of my fave mares Brom Felinity and DM doing that today.

Saintssupporter I noticed Bruce McAvaney also say Shadowmaker (not Shadoways! always funny to see people confuse the slightly better galloper) was a SA horse. He's from Echuca so I'd almost let you claim him a NSW horse if anywhere ;)

I also found it funny Bruce and Freedman thought Murray Downs last run was in Geelong for a 4th, when he ran 11th or so on Oaks day only a few days back...Ill give them a spell though its a hectic carnival for that total brain fade..and the fact the form guide also seemed to miss it

My exact thought.

Ive backed it the last 3 starts and will be probably be on tommorow but feel it is way under the odds. Depends on the track and will take a ripping ride to get close.

PS its closing 200m splits are always amazing
Gday Lockyer24, Glad DM came through with the goods for us both, I was long overdue! :D
Great ride and it was good to see her get stoked up a bit earlier this time. My mate, whose father has a share in DM, was over the moon and sent me a txt saying it was "all about Crown Lager's from now on" about 2 minutes after the race so he was buzzing too.
I only had a small win due to my "interest bet" policy, but I'll take it! :thumbsu:
