Another emotional build up to a game with Melbourne under the pump from the media all week and their "unification march" tonight and we fall over all too easily again. You know in these matches the opposition will come out in the first 10-15 minutes at a 100mph and you need to match their intensity yet we were flat.

I spent tonight thinking of the round 2 libba/bulldogs games in 2001. Hot favourites going into both games yet exposed as soft. We won't earn respect until we no longer let these type of games slip.

Maybe we should orchestrate some "statement" games of our own instead of being on the receiving end of them.
Nicholls and Dunc come back from buttock injuries in a couple of weeks so we could have a "do the bump" march to fire the boys up. Then after we win they could retire. :D

Whatever happened to Ruthless Richmond, the club that shoved emotional games back in the opposition's faces.

Anyone remember the 1974 Grand Final - nearly every person in Melbourne was barracking for North. We stuck it up 'em.

Oh for the good old days.

That's true DDT but in our case it's not just sometimes it's almost every time. Good sides know that you have to come out just as hard in the first 10-15 minutes and then get on top (especially on the scoreboard) to nullify the emotion. We instead came out flat and they got 3 goals in the first 5 minutes of the game which only fueled their emotional high. Once they got ahead they were able to sustain that emotion throughout the whole night.
