Heard a story that makes me realise that we are developing a great culture among the Crows players. We have had a "motivator" working at the Crows developing trust among all players. Young players are being groomed to take more responsibility and we have heard about young players reminding older players about team rules out on the track. People attending training sessions have witnessed this evolving.
I was told about a group of players having a few drinks some weeks ago when one young player thought that an older player was perhaps having a few too many. He took him aside, gently reminded the older one about team rules and then booked a cab and sent him home. The older one accepted the advice and went home.
No names mentioned of course but with an age difference of over 10 years between the two players, I would find this hard to accept that this would happen at many football clubs.
This gives me great confidence that the Adelaide Football Club is developing in the right direction.

Haven't we got the same guy working on this with us and Sydney?!

I am pretty sure he has a foot in both camps and is one of those leadership/motivational gurus. I think his name is Ray Mclean of something like that.

It wouldn't have been easy for the young fella to do that though. Hypothetically imagine Richard Doulgas coming up to Roo and telling him, "I think its time you eased of booze and catch a cab home champ" :D

What I'd like to know is why this 'player' was getting smashed in the middle of the season.

Is this a regular occurance ?

He's also working with the Redbacks. I think all young guys at clubs would be intimidated by telling/asking a fellow 10 years older to do someting like that. But if it's happening it's a good sign. It means a stronger team on and off the track. If we happened to "recruit" some of the players "with baggage" I wonder how they'd react?? Maybe the whole AFL would benefit if all Clubs were like this...of course I am in dreamland now.

I did not say he was getting smashed..just one too many. The number of drinks did not come up in the conversation.
