No more transfers for a while now - who do you think has been the best transfer, best value, who will be a flop...?

So far in England I'm impressed by Fernando Torres. He won't score 50 goals or something but while he's not even bad as a finisher he's good at pretty much everything else. He's made Liverpool a better team already imo and as I read somewhere here he's nowhere near his Atletico form from last season. Money well spent.

Also in EPL, I like Elano a lot so far.

In Spain it's too early to call but Sneijder has proven his value already with 3 goals in 2 matches + the knowledge that he'll probably regularly score from free kicks, something Beckham and Roberto Carlos didn't do (both must've been on 2 per season or something).

In Germany Ribery so far looks like he was worth every euro as well.

I haven't seen a complete list recently, but one of the best values must be Tomasson -> Villareal for 3m pound.

Biggest mistakes were Bent, Pepe and Chivu. And possibly Robben who's surprisingly out injured again.

bacary sagna looks like a really good player for arsenal so far and him being a real right back will allow eboue to play on the wing where he is more suited i think

Roque Santa Cruz has proven good value for money so far. Mark Hughes is probably the most underrated manager in the EPL today and a shrewd operator in the transfer market.

Portsmouth would be happy with Utaka as well.

Voronin could go close to being signing of the summer.

Sneijder looks to be the best so far... Nani has also done well for Man u
Athletico Madrids signings looked good on paper but they have failed to produce (2 draws i think)

barca's four signing's have all been promising...

Thierry Henry - was back to his scintilating best against inter milan on wednesday, just failed to score... the touch, speed and elegance were very prominant tho... will pick it up eventually once he gets a few miles into his legs... 6/10

Yaya Toure
- pick of the lot for me so far... already scored a couple of goals and he is there as a holding mid! big, strong and is linking up well with iniesta, deco, xavi and co.. looks to be a real find... 8.5/10

Eric Abidal - featured prominantly in the eleven and has been very solid.. gives us lots down back and plenty going foward... his pinpoint cross to ronaldinho last night is a great illustration (something our recent fullbacks haven't given).. will be a very valuable contributor this season... 7/10

Gabi Milito
- hasn't played anywhere near as much as the others through injury and suspension and is still adjusting to our revamped back 4 system. a proven defender entering his peak, no need to panic... 3/10

Lets see

Craig Bellamy - Great great start. Will be a Upton Park legend - 9/10

Freddie Ljungberg - Injured

Scott Parker - picked up a freak injury

Kieron Dyer - picked up a freak injury

Julien Faubert - picked up a freak injury

Nobby Solano - Ill give him more then 72 hours to prove himself

Henri Camara - Ditto

In other words no luck whatsoever. Best signing so far is one bloke from Man City whose my next pick in the fantasy draft so i wont give it away

Corluka? He has been very good at RB and can play CB as well. They've bought well City although I still think they'll struggle to make the top 10 as they'll take a while to gel.

Voronin is a gem. I like very much. Can't believe a player of his quality would've been availble on a free. Given his history of success particularly in partnership with some ultra fine strikers (Berbatov, Shev), you would've thought he deserves more attention

Pretty much so far, it has proven to be money well spent for every one of our signings. Even Leto has looked very impressive when he's gotten a chance, and I have high hopes for Lucas.

It's far more fun to predict the flop of the season though.

Can Shevchenko be flop of the season twice in row? Even though he didn't move anywhere? Surely he can, because of his astronomical transfer fee and wages ;)

I actually have a funny feeling he'll come good when he gets back from injury, there's no doubting his quality as a player (Even though he is perhaps not as good as he once was).

Santa Cruz will do very well in this league. Value at £3.5m.

Voronin is a good squad addition, but I still reckon he'll end up more as a fringe/impact player as the season goes on. Have been surprised at how easily he has slotted in so far.

Wasn't cheap but I think Mido will be a more than adequate replacement for Yak. Scored two already and been very good in each of his matches so far.

Viduka looks to be a very good signing for nothing, you just don't know what you're going to get with him though.

For us, Geovanni is probably the success so far. 2 goals and played pretty well mainly off the bench. I'm not sure if he'll have a long term impact with us but to get a 27 year old Brazilian former international for nowt doesn't upset me too much at all. Longer term, I suspect Elano will be the signing for us although early signs are that opposition sides are already trying to stop him by kicking him off the pitch so unless he gets some protection from the refs it's going to be a tough year for him..

perhaps, probably and all that. but we are only 1/9th (or so) into the PL season and Liverpool have only commenced one of four competitions.

present signs are very encouraging though.

at worst he's a hunk who'll get the ladies excited.

sort of like the EPL's Nip/Tuck.

Also in EPL, I like Elano a lot so far.
mmmmm..... sort of, maybe not.

He was ****ing ace in the first game. completely punk'd West Ham into oblivion x ashton kutcher + 69! (while I'm having sex with Demi Moore)

To rephrase in English. Elano started off brilliantly, had a decent game against Derby but since has struggled a bit.

He hasn't imposed himself of late. Struggled to get touches against Manchester United and didn't see much of the ball against Arsenal. Both are very good teams, likely to dominate possession, so perhaps this is understandable. Sort of the same thing with Thugburn as well. They'll break your leg if it means winning the ball.

So far, he's probably at about a 5 or 6/10. (all performances considered)

I expect to see a majestic performance from he against Villa next game.

In a 5-0 loss....

In Spain it's too early to call but Sneijder has proven his value already with 3 goals in 2 matches + the knowledge that he'll probably regularly score from free kicks, something Beckham and Roberto Carlos didn't do (both must've been on 2 per season or something).
He's looking the bee's knees at present.

In Germany Ribery so far looks like he was worth every euro as well.
I don't think there was much doubt on that one. A Shay Given if there ever was one.

Biggest mistakes were Bent, Pepe and Chivu. And possibly Robben who's surprisingly out injured again.
Bent - overpriced, overrated and worst of all, completely not what his team needed.
Pepe - haven't seen much of him but Real didn't need another overpriced central defender, their stocks were well enough adequate in this position.

Robben? Best natural left sided player in the game when fit. Those 4-5 games a season are well worth watching. :thumbsu:

He may play in others but at 50-75% he isn't worth the trouble. Regardless, Chelsea haven't replaced him and they'll struggle because of it.

Roque Santa Cruz has proven good value for money so far. Mark Hughes is probably the most underrated manager in the EPL today and a shrewd operator in the transfer market.
How unlucky was he not to score on the weekend?

Yaya Toure - pick of the lot for me so far... already scored a couple/one of goals and he is there as a holding mid! big, strong and is linking up well with iniesta, deco, xavi and co.. looks to be a real find... 8.5/10
