Lot of kids with the Cricket Australia app apparently.
Ponting
Chappell
AB
Smith
Harvey

When Smith reaches 10k runs still averaging 60+ then he'll be no.1

Ponting has 41 test centuries
Chappell had to play against the fearsome windies side.
AB delivered Ashes success in England as well as World Cup success, laid the platform for the dominance the followed.
Know SFA about Harvey truth be told.

AB robbed in that poll, he was one of the only guys that could make tons against those great West Indies bowling attacks of the 1980s.

I bet Steve Smith wouldn't be averaging over 60 if he was facing Holding, Marshall, Garner, Walsh and Ambrose on a regular basis.

Not to mention Richard Hadlee, Ewen Chatfield and Martin Snedden.

Batting averages need to be taken with a grain of salt since the early naughties

Averaging over 40 back in the 80s and 90s used to be a real achievement and was the mark of a great batsman, these days even ordinary batsmen like Khawaja are averaging over 40.

Growing up I remember there was an unwritten rule you had to bat for a certain amount of innings for the average to even be respected, let alone considered

That went out the window and now we have Voges :$

He's facing Anderson, who will be remembered in that company. Maybe not Hadlee level.

He's probably faced Philander who is statistically as good a bowling all-rounder as anyone.

Agreed. Smith can't handle swing bowling of quality.
That windies attack wouldn't have let him average 60.

SA tour looking ominous given we have queries over the opener, no6 and keeper positions.
Found a way to play their spinner as well as all 4 of Rabada, Steyn, Morkel and Philander.

Have a feeling we're walking into another overseas belting.

Tubby is a f***ing idiot. "3rd umpire shouldn't call no balls on review, even when it's not a legal delivery." :drunk:

Voges actually qualified under the traditional 20 innings criteria. Selectors just didn't let him spud it up long enough to drop to where it should've been.

Our quicks should go alright though. We won the last series there against the odds and from memory only Clarke and Warner stepped up with the bat.

Not as confident this time. That's a pace battery I don't think we can get a good score against.
As long as the Saffer cameramen are on point again though it matters not. :D
