The only test match for 2023 between England and Ireland kicks off on Thursday. Cricinfo and Cricbuzz mention this is a 4 day test match. The question will be can Ireland counter Bazball? I think it would be an achievement for Ireland if they can push it deep into the 4th day.

They also dont get back Josh Little who played in the IPL 2023 final last night. There isnt enough recovery time between the fixtures.

Let's have a look at the Squads:

Ireland-
Andrew Balbirnie (c), Mark Adair, Curtis Campher, George Dockrell, Fionn Hand, Graham Hume, Thomas Mayes, Andrew McBrine, James McCollum, PJ Moor, Conor Olphert, Paul Stirling, Harry Tector, Lorcan Tucker

England- Ben Stokes (Durham) Captain, James, Anderson (Lancashire), Jonathan Bairstow (Yorkshire), Stuart Broad (Nottinghamshire), Harry Brook (Yorkshire), Zak Crawley (Kent), Ben Duckett (Nottinghamshire), Dan Lawrence (Essex), Jack Leach (Somerset), Ollie Pope (Surrey), Matthew Potts (Durham), Ollie Robinson (Sussex), Joe Root (Yorkshire), Josh Tongue (Worcestershire), Chris Woakes (Warwickshire), Mark Wood (Durham)

Good to have cricket back with no significant cricket played in the last 2 months or so that I'm aware of ;) (apart from some Ireland Test tours).

England have already announced their XI with Josh Tongue debuting:

1 Zak Crawley, 2 Ben Duckett, 3 Ollie Pope, 4 Joe Root, 5 Harry Brook, 6 Ben Stokes (c), 7 Jonny Bairstow (wk), 8 Stuart Broad, 9 Matthew Potts, 10 Josh Tongue, 11 Jack Leach.

assume this will be on fox cricket?

ireland blew an amazing chance to beat the english the last time they played at lords prior to an ashes series. hope they can get close again, but i doubt it

Most pitches look greener a day or two before a test, nothing new there.

Anyway I hope Ireland can make a decent contest of this test but I expect England to win it pretty comfortably.
Doesn't sound like Ireland care that much either way.

And why should they? There's nothing in it for them at all.

Tectors been their best bat this year. That's a big blow.

Balbirnie said this match doesn't really matter and he batted like it doesn't.
