Excellent build up and wicket from Henry, game in the balance now

Boult really is a genuinely superb bowler.

Short of all time great status but boy he is very very good.

It really is a shame he and Southee haven’t played as much test cricket as some other new ball combinations because they have been so reliable for such a long time.

We will be in a bit of trouble when they retire, they've been stalwarts for us.

In 4 balls Stokes has run down the wicket and planted Southee for 6, and reverse swept the spinner for a two bounce 4.

I think they might just be leaning towards chasing it
Its test match cricket, not ODI cricket.

Bowlers can spread out the field, bowlers can bowl a tad wider and bowl balls that don't get penalised as much as they do in ODI Cricket.

A wicket and your exposing a pretty fragile batting tail to a decent NZ seaming attack on this wicket.

Plus Stokes has a bit more pressure as captain.

That doesn’t mean they aren’t trying to do it

Stokes is aside from Root the best equipped player in the side to graft and soak up time. He’s clearly not doing that. He wants to win and he’s trying to do it

These two will go for it i think they will feel its still flat enough that they can lose another one and then shut it down and just bat time, added to that southee is having a terrible game jamieson is out and nz have no frontline spinner so they will back themselves to chase it down or bat the draw if they lose a few.
