I fancy NZ to beat England on their home deck there. I think England don't play as well as a team as evidenced by their series in West Indies recently and the Ashes last summer.

The England Test Squad:

Ben Stokes (Durham) captain
James Anderson (Lancashire)
Jonathan Bairstow (Yorkshire)
Stuart Broad (Nottinghamshire)
Harry Brook (Yorkshire)
Zak Crawley (Kent)
Ben Foakes (Surrey)
Jack Leach (Somerset)
Alex Lees (Durham)
Craig Overton (Somerset)
Matthew Potts (Durham)
Ollie Pope (Surrey)
Joe Root (Yorkshire)

New Zealand squad: Kane Williamson (c), Trent Boult, Tom Blundell, Michael Bracewell, Devon Conway, Colin de Grandhomme, Jacob Duffy, Cameron Fletcher, Matt Henry, Kyle Jamieson, Tom Latham, Daryl Mitchell, Henry Nicholls, Ajaz Patel, Rachin Ravindra, Hamish Rutherford, Tim Southee, Blair Tickner, Neil Wagner, Will Young

I think the seaming conditions will suit NZ seamers very well, especially quarter of : Southee, Boult , Jamieson and Wagner.

Lords will also be a bit of a happy hunting ground for Jamieson after his 5fers against India in the Test Championship last year.

There is another warm up game for NZ starting this Thursday.

This is the opposition they will be facing in the 4 day warmup:

County Select XI squad: Jack Blatherwick (Lancashire), Michael Burgess (Warwickshire), Ben Compton (Kent), Ben Gibbon (Worcestershire), Nick Gubbins (Hampshire), Tom Haines (Sussex), Lyndon James (Nottinghamshire), Ryan Patel (Surrey), Liam Patterson-White (Nottinghamshire), Jamie Porter (Essex), Ollie Robinson (Sussex), Dom Sibley (Warwickshire).

I havent heard too many of those players to be fair.

NZ Bowled out for 148 in their 2nd dig in their warmup in Chemsford.
I clicked on cricinfo last night just to see what was happening in terms of matches being played.

In the summary of live scores at the top it had NZ at 3/9. So I clicked on it to bring up the Live Scores page and it showed 4/9.

I thought "wtf?" so I clicked on the Scoreboard page to see what was going on - that showed 5/9.

As Bill would have said - it was all happening.

Think NZ will win but wonder if their bowlers will have it easy - the county pitches and dry weather have made it a bit of a nightmare for swing bowlers this season.

Hope the weather does not mess this up.

I am backing the Snoozies in to do a number on the hosts.

Thought they would have moved on from Bairstow as a batter, but no there he is while Brook looks likely to miss. Poor Pope is batting at 3 which is exactly where Root should be batting.

Given that after a belated entry into their Ashes side he was their best performed batsman, and then averaged 45 in their loss in the WI I don’t see why they’d not pick him again.

He’s hit 2 hundreds and a 50 in 5 tests since his recall
