Liverpool and Manchester United are weighing up a cut-price January move for Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey.

Talks between the Gunners and the 27-year-old Welshman broke down last month after the club withdrew a contract offer which had been on the table for several months.

Ramsey, whose deal expires at the end of the season, is free to negotiate with overseas teams from January 1.

AC Milan, Inter Milan and Juventus are among several sides monitoring the situation, but Ramsey is thought to prefer staying in England, with his family settled in London and his wife shortly due to give birth to twins.

Liverpool and United have a long-standing interest in Ramsey — the latter tried to sign him when he left Cardiff for Emirates Stadium in 2008 — and Standard Sport understands senior figures at Arsenal believe there is a strong possibility at least one of the clubs will try to take advantage of the contract impasse.

Shortly after scoring a memorable goal at Old Trafford, Harry Wilson's phone beeped with a message from Jürgen Klopp.

‘Fantastic free-kick, really great football,’ the Liverpool manager wrote to the Wales international, who is on loan from the club at Derby County.

Wilson had just scored a stunning long-range set-piece in the Rams’ Carabao Cup tie with Manchester United – one they would go on to win via penalties after a 2-2 draw.

“It’s great to hear from the manager whose team you want to be in in the future,” enthused the 21-year-old.

Wilson enjoyed a hugely productive loan spell with Hull City during the first half of the year, scoring seven times in his 13 Championship appearances.

He returned to Liverpool in the summer and signed a new long-term contract before joining up with Frank Lampard’s Derby and carrying that impressive form into the next stage of his career.

“Early on in the year I was desperate to get out on loan and get some senior appearances in,” added Wilson.

“When Hull came calling it was a great, great move for me and when I went there I managed to get some goals and assists and get a senior Wales call-up.

“I got my full senior debut and a goal in China, and this season with Derby has been great. I’m in the Wales squad regularly now and I’m delighted.”

England won in Spain for the first time in 31 years as they recorded a memorable Uefa Nations League victory in Seville on Monday.
Gareth Southgate's side were 3-0 up at half-time. Raheem Sterling ended his three-year, 27-game barren sequence with a thunderous early opener, before scoring his second from close range just before the break - his goals coming either side of a composed strike from Marcus Rashford.
Spain, torn apart by England's pace in that sensational opening period, responded in predictable fashion in a chaotic second half, with Paco Alcacer pulling a goal back just before the hour with a near-post header.
England lived on their nerves, particularly goalkeeper Jordan Pickford. The Everton player's exceptional ability with the ball at his feet helped create the first two goals but he was also lucky to survive a penalty appeal when he seemed to bring down Rodrigo after attempting to be too clever in his own area.
Spain hit the woodwork and Sergio Ramos scored with the final act of the game in the 97th minute - but the visitors survived to secure a famous and deserved victory, their first here since a 4-2 win in 1987.
This was Spain's first loss at home in a competitive fixture for 15 years.

Liverpool's tally of 23 points after nine games is the best start Jürgen Klopp can remember but the manager has no doubt there is plenty more to come from his team.

The Reds edged past Huddersfield Town 1-0 courtesy of Mohamed Salah’s 24th-minute finish across Jonas Lossl – their seventh win of the Premier League season.

Only Manchester City can match their points haul so far, while Liverpool have never before conceded as few as three goals in their opening nine league matches of a campaign.

But for all Klopp’s satisfaction with the result at John Smith’s Stadium, he explained why there are areas for improvement and they will be worked on immediately.

Huddersfield were very unlucky , one shot hit the side post with the goal keeper beaten , and then it looks like they should have got a penalty for hand ball . As we know when you are a bottom side these things tend to go against you.

Ronaldinho seems to be forgotten when people talk about the best skilled players to have played . Yes Ronaldo , Messi and even the human rolling pin Neymar are good . Have a look at these highlights of Ronaldinho . The part that really struck me was watching him warm up by kicking a ball into the crossbar and have it rebound straight back to him standing well outside the penalty area and he does it 3 or 4 times , amazing. Also the blindfolded kicking the ball to oneself without letting it hit the ground. They show other top players try it and then he does it , simply amazing .

United should have won! :(
Wish we would show up at the start of games and play football from the get go
instead of waiting to fall behind before we fire up!
F#cking 6 mins added on was a croc of shite too! But that seems to be the way our luck is
rolling at the moment! On the plus side besides the 2 points dropped now.
I feel we are awakening from our slumber and are still a mighty threat against anyone!
Last couple of results and the spirit shown within the team is most heartening for fans
and manager alike!

Wouldn't be writing the great United off just yet!
Can feel a backs to the wall rearguard renaissance coming soon!
