I was hoping someone on here has been over to the UK and played some (what they call)
Pub cricket on a Sunday - im heading over to the UK on Sunday and will play 5 games with a side in the Sussex League called Chalvington + Ripe - i haven't been able to find a wed site with their comp details for this season so i wondering
What would the Standard be like?

Cheers

Standard isn't the greatest. Played with a lot of fellers that were really young, played because they loved it or have had a crack at league cricket and are now back to finish their career off.

Played against a bloke that was 73 and was still sending down his little leggies, he also remembered bowling to me 3 years prior when i was also over there.

The grounds are usually the small, the pitches don't have covers often but are the most beautiful grounds that I have played on.

It is great fun and you will enjoy it

Generally a pretty average standard with the odd good team . More about the fun then anything else , although there will be plenty of bats who handle your left arm mediums fairly comfortable Unters .

hahahahahahahahahaha not hard to do Sting - you know us Little people struggle at the best of times to make the other end of a cricket pitch but
Looking forward to playing on the 3rd oldest ground in the world with a pubs beer garden as the grand stand which is my sort of cricket.

Seriously it is a heap of fun and I am tipping you will enjoy giving the Hunts a workout to the short boundaries .
If your lucky they may even have a big oak tree 20 metres inside the mid wicket boundary for target practice and you will get more value for your shots then you do at Pinks at its best .
Best thing though is being able to drink before , during and after the game .

Just like we do at KCC hey!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Must admit im fairly pumped about playing over there and feel i will love my time there and want to go back next year.

You will definitely want to head back , I have been trying to get back over there for the past 6 years . I don't think you have played cricket until you have experienced it in England on a small cottage ground .

Will be like playing at Wonga Parks ground week in week out.

That is the standard ground size there ! we played at one ground where they used the end deck I faced up for first ball and I reckon one of the square boundary was about 15 meters long . Gee I came back with some bad habits .
