I don't think I've been more disinterested in the start of the footy season in like 25 years.
About December, just before Christmas I was as excited as I’ve ever been for a season... then the injuries... then more injuries... then the shite football in the JLT games... now this. It’s been so deflating, especially now we’re on the eve of the season. When many thought we could be 3-0 we’re staring down being 0-3 and right in the crosshairs of the media.

I reckon Hogan had this issue before he came here remember him saying in his first interview " I left at 17, came back and my fathers dead" screamed mental health issues to me.
Also I reckon these cultural problems and the process of sorting them out can make players and teams luke hodge geelong come to mind. Next few years critical step up or step down time.

Plus the age demographic of midfields are what determines premiership windows, fremantle are a few years away from finals if were being realistic so we have time, not panic stations yet.

Would love to have someone outline what the cultural issues are, as well as an explanation of expectations and how we work towards redemption or if in fact we simply have a one strike your out rule. I would also like to see someone explain what the current situation is and how it is currently handled (in detail) and how they would do it differently.

Then outline how we use language to convey culture and how we would change that from its current state. Then look at the other cultural drivers inherent to large groups or organisations and address them as well as how in tandem with contractual and HR obligations you would change the culture from what it is to a healthier one...

I will eagerly await a work of substance.

Alcock is not a Freo person and is way out of his depth - Give me 1 initiative that he has implemented in his time that made us a better club ??
Rosich has become too comfortable in his seat - he has to go
Lyon - clearly has lost his aura and standing in the game . His hunger for success can be questioned , I doubt the players respect or give 100% for him. I will not single out his hand picked assistants who are clearly spineless dummies who have no balls to challenge Ross . Ross does not like real leaders because he wants everything's Ross's way and then he has his fall guys for when sh!t hits the fan he can throw his hand picked *******s under the bus. Sumich was his last assistant who had fire about him but will never be a league coach.
The players - lets address these elephants in the room
Bennell - is sh!t , move him on - Morabitos body is in better condition
Steven Hill cant even get on the park
His brother has become fat and gone backwards since coming to us
Ballantyne should have god damn been delisted 2 years ago
Sandi should retire and any talk of him being our number 1 ruck ahead of Darcy is d!ckhead talk
McCarthy should just f*ck off
Blakely is in danger of becoming another Hasleby
Matera is heartless and if was not a Matera would not be on an AFL list today

I would be happy even with a gallant loss
doesn't that say it all, its round 1 and we're all thinking a gallant loss would be a great result.
We'll be going in with a worse forward line than last year first up, and that was one of the worst forward lines ever put out in our history

Round 'one' is on Sunday...
The sky hasn't fallen
One player did a stupid thing and the leadership group has acted on it immediately

When the going gets tough .... for some its too tough and they should get going...

No this is the straw that broke the camels back - should this be happening a week before the season ??? No
What happened to our No D!ckhead policy , because we have half the All Australian D!ckhead team ATM

IMO both Rosich and Lyon’s time is up. It seems as though the player’s are tired of listening to the same message and playing a shit style of football. It feels like Ross is an old school disciplinarian/dictator and it’s worn everyone from assistant coaches, strength and conditioning and now the players.

Rosich has to go because he’s overseen this all as CEO. Time for a shake up in the whole club. We’re an embarrassment and laughing stock of the competition right now. From Ryan and Cox being suspended for drinking, MJ’s kebab incident, Blakely lying about being sick to go surfing, Harley’s off field antics, Billy lying about his Scarborough incident and being demoted from the leadership group and now Hogan...

Something really stinks at the club right now.
Sorry Wally but what you've just said doesn't make a lot of sense to me

If (if) there is a culture problem surely it would because we aren't strict enough -- not because we are too strict.

If we were such strict disciplinarians how come some of the players you have mentioned are still on the list or were allowed to retire on their own terms?

With Hogan, there were plenty of concerns during Trade Week -- remember at one stage we walked away from the deal. If we were really strict and had "due diligence concerns" how come we went back to the table and completed the trade?

(And for the record, Hogan missing this week most probably has nothing to do with culture.)

I know the standard BS line about Lyon is that he is so tough and refuses to be "seduced by talent" prefering his hard-working "hack" role players. But I think the situation is actually quite the opposite.

If you have talent (Bennell, MJ, B.Hill in your examples above), then all kinds of sins are forgiven. If you have talent but maybe not the application you still get plenty of game time (McCarthy, Matera). If you are simply a hard working good citizen then you can be let go pretty quickly.

If there is a no d!ckhead policy, then the time to melt about it is during trade week or after the draft. If (if) we have d!ckheads in our team, there is no use complaining about it now, because those decisions are long gone.

What I have found leading organisations is that people find it very easy to whinge about culture from the outside with little to no info or ideas on how to manage effective change.

Yes, and this can be applied to a myriad of platforms - across Government, Business, Families, Religion etc.

External analysts and strategic consultants take weeks in understanding business culture and performance, so why would anyone here be able to accurately diagnose and solve problems.

This is a place to vent and speculate, always has and always will be.

People at the top I mentioned all of them have been here Alcock-Rosich-Lyon . All 3 of these clowns have seen this culture come in and grow and thrive at our club. Its our club , not theirs .. I firmly believe they do not give a sh1t about our club.

Yeah- the club should hand out massive fines.
You stuff up like this, your fined 25% of your yearly income.

Not sure this is legal though?!

It’s not that side of them I’m concerned with, it’s that I think there’s a certain amount of time players are willing to listen to the same message from the same person over and over before they start to not care anymore. IMO it’s time for a change and a new message and personnel to come in (CEO and coaches).

I'm pretty sure maximum fines are set out in the AFL collective bargaining agreement.

May be Fyfe is too much of soft c**k?!

I think we're cursed. Its as simple as that.
At least West Coast are good at football which would make it easier when the players screw up.
We're just a joke and other than a couple of good years always have been.
Very disappointing.

This won’t be a popular opinion but a few weeks ago when the players had the weekend off, a few of the boys were down south to see Rufus and Cam had pupils the size of saucepans and a swinging jaw. He was with Travis Colyer and Alex Pearce and it didn’t appear like they were on the same ‘level’ as Cam but I thought Alex should’ve shown more leadership and at the least, taken Cam out of the public eye in that state. It appears the leaders could be a bit soft in that regard.
