It just stands out to me because most handballs these days are really short ones to a player running past. Not usually used as an offensive weapon.
Unless it's Boris doing it.

He's been doing it for years. Not constantly, but he's one of the few players who will commit to a 25-30 meter handball to a bloke in space.

also, watch Blicavs through that passage of play, he's the reason why the goal eventuated and he continued to run forward and could have actually received the handball from Smedts as his opponent dropped off him.

And whoever was on Johnson, why on earth would you allow him to continue running forward all alone after he was one of the blokes involved in the play.
Really poor defensive work by Essendon and it's little signs like that which make you wonder when their drop off will come like the previous two seasons.

Jobe Watson was on Johnson. You can see him get sucked back towards Enright when SJ handballs it over his shoulder, then realise too late that Johnson has continued his run. He also looks spent...

That was the best handball i've seen.

Normally handballs are the boring whatever action of our game, that Handball to SJ got me out of my seat shaking my head and laughing.

Thanks for the link, i'd had a quick look and couldn't find it over the weekend

Ridiculously skilled , to hit SJ up from that distance without him having to break stride was truly as thing of beauty.
The level of understanding our senior guys have about each other is almost telepathic and is one of the things that underpin our success.

Those hand passes are epic alright, I've never seen anything like them before. If anyone said to me before I'd seen him to them, that a player can hand pass in excess of 30 metres I would have said that not only wasn't it possible, but also dumb, because you may as well just kick it. That's until you see them and you just can't help but marvel at the skill, execution and that damn right effectiveness of them.

I may be a hawk supporter, but I also love our game and appreciate brilliance when it happens. Well Enright's handball on Friday night was nothing short of brilliance !!! Wow !!! I would say it's one of the best handballs of all time and just beautiful to watch. The fact the Johnson was then able to bang a pass from the boundry and hit the leading forward, was it Stokes ? aswell was the icing on a teriffic passage of play. The Hawks give me plenty of great passages and highlights but that handball of Enright's was a Fu@#ing rippa !
Can someone post a clip of it ?
Cheers and see you in round 15 for what is shaping up to be yet another epic battle.

I actually think that the one in the Dons game was more impressive purely because it was across his body to a moving SJ who he hit IN STRIDE 25 m away .....

But im splitting hairs...

A shorter list for Boris is things he has done badly since 2007.....

Guy is just a brilliant, once in a millennium type player...

Personal choice, of course, but I used to see Polly do Essendon-type ones from the ruck even before his feet hit the deck - much to the enjoyment of Goggin and Wade!
But I have never, ever seen anything like the NM one.
I'll keep 'em both and let you have my final decision in 10-15 years time.:D
