stones have, prior to the release of the album that is currently #2 selling music item on amazon, placed each track on their site.

rough justice is a great song. its a rocker that has been absent from todays music for too long. the stones have put in a good album, their best since tattoo you imho

whos gonna pick this one up?

stones moved their release forward a week to have an all out battle with Macca

Yeah i've only really listened to Rough Justice and it sounded pretty good, i was surprised.

I doubt i'll buy it though. Their album will outsell McCartney's 2 to 1.

PR makes the difference. The Stones are taking advantage of that more. Musically and artistically Maccas is the better record but the stones one does rock. Both should be top 10 hit albums in the US and UK. Based on pre orders the albums are both tracking well, the stones may have more at the moment for the fact they suddenly switched their release a week later people thought it would be out on the 8th but now its released the 13th alongside Maccas. Get both albums if you like good music

Picked up A Bigger Bang Sunday morning. Its now had 3 full run throughs but the jury is still out. It rocks, no doubt about it they are the best rock and roll outfit on the planet but I feel it lacks something but cant put my finger on it just yet.

Early Observations, plenty of Sorry Jerry songs particularly "streets of love" and "biggest mistake" plus a swipe at either or both of Conrad and Sophie Dahl on "She saw me coming" and "Rain Fall Down" with the great lyrics :
It was all the usual crap . All the usual sleaze. For 40,000 quid Some bimbo spilled the beans.

BAck of my hand seems to me to be a track to honor the bands main delta blues influences that created the rolling stone sound.

The album seems more personal that other efforts and Micks infidelity and subsequent break down of his marriage certainly take the main stage in various parts of the album, Not sure what it is but to me thius album seems like a a goodbye of sorts.

The Glimmer Twins used to sing about partying and playing up and threw in the odd lost love classic like Angie, now it seems they are almost into some sort of admission that its all coming to an end and some sort of penance must be served, I mean even Bridges to Babylon had the rocky "Out of Control" which told us they were still rock and rollers, but to me this is some sort of final fling before my greatest fear will be realised, the rolling stones will be no more.

The band has always said that its CHarlie who decides when to stop and I think his recent threat of cancer and his more normal lifestyle as compared to the other 3 has finally caught up with them and hes let them know this could be it, hence Micks very apologetic lyrics to lost loves, I think MIck thinks this could be the last time the boys rock.

As the album is released the 13th (to clash with Paul no doubt) I wonder how you "picked your copy up" the songs are available on their site but you cannot copy them into a media player so unless you got an advanced copy, I am suspicious.

Try this Download Manager .

It is a legal program, not a file sharing program, originated from Melbourne I think. I'm still running an old PC with w98 and the program uses a few resources. As soon as I update I'll buy it.

Try before you buy.

As for the album I've heard a few tracks. Looking forward to listening to the whole lot.

Sorry Materamagic but just becasue you think you know everything in the music industry does not mean you do. In fact I would think you may well have bought many an album from a very shop in Fremantle that was owned by my family for many many years, Its quite famous you should know the one. It was released today from what I can understand and whilst the record store is long gone the contacts in the music industry are not.

In fact when you get the album , just to show you that other people have knowledge of the music industry also, the inside cover booklet is simply all the songs written in a very small font that you have to turn the cover 90 degrees to read with a picture similar to the cover picture in the middle "centrefold" page. The CD itslef is black with a stylised ROlling Stones "tongue" in red.

I picked up the album on Sunday, was already familiar with four songs, courtesy of Rollingstones.com. 'Rough Justice' for mine is a terrific track, has the ol' swagger and fire in the belly typical of the best Stones stuff. I think somebody else has said it already, but it feels like something is lacking on the album, but hard to say what...it sounds fresh, well-produced, with all the Stones hallmarks- maybe it's just the relative quality of the songs, there don't seem to be all that many 'hooks' in there. Still, I hope that it will prove to be a 'grower'...

Maybe because they've been doing the same thing forever, the songs sound almost the same as their old ones, I can see how it would get old very fast and I'm probably not going to get the new album. I'll just still with 40 Licks, thank you.
