MATTHEW GREEN
189 / 73 / RF
Clubs: NT Thunder / Allies
Positions: Outside Midfield, Back Flank
Stats:
Matthew had an impressive Championships as a bottom ager picking up 9 disposals a game across two matches in 2017. It was expected he would improve and be a key player for the Allies in 2018 but he struggled for just 7.5 disposals a game across 4 matches.
Gamestyle:
Matthew is a midfielder with good endurance, good agility and ability to play outside. He has good speed, can change direction quickly and uses the ball well through the midfield. He can be a line breaker on occasion and is able to spread well and find space on the wings.
He looks best as being that go-to player through the midfield when coming out of the backline. He can play on a back flank and use his pace and agility to advantage in working around opponents. He shows good vision, is a good handballer and has been able to play well at stoppages on occasion.
Matthew needs to improve the contested side of his game. He doesn’t often win the contested ball, being predominantly an outside player, but needs to learn to go when its his time. He is good under pressure with the ball, especially by hand.
He hasn’t developed as much as hoped this year, but still looms as a likely prospect.
Draft Range: Late-Rookie
The development just hasn’t come for Matthew this year. Physically he is impressive, he is impressive when he gets the ball but it just hasn’t happened for him in 2018. He now looms as a late or rookie pick and there is a chance he may go undrafted.
