Left back is much more of a concern. Clichy is promising and hopefully remains fit for at least most of the season. Outside of Clichy, there doesn't appear to be much. The depth is obviously less frequent than in the other defensive positions.
Obviously Gallas w/amazing versatility is the main replacement but from what I hear Sagna could also play there if required.

Clichy
Sagna
Gallas
Traore
Toure
Hoyte
Flamini

We have loads of fullbacks and/or players who can play there.

Alright folks. Here comes the official results for the 07/08 season.

Some would say 'predictions' but knowing my superb track record this will read like the almanac Marty McFly had to recapture from the evil 'Biff'.

Where do I start? 1-20 would be good. The bread must be taken out.

1. Liverpool - Excellent defence, tactically astute manager, new attacking signings. The long awaited return of the trophy is soon here.

2. Arsenal - Superb defence, quality midfield, unknown attack. 1-4. Who knows where? Me.

3. Manchester United - Neville, Scholes, Giggs, Van Der Sar. Reads like the Kangaroos team of 2001. ;) Best young players in the league. I think the four names mentioned will struggle this season and their replacements are not yet ready.

4. Chelsea - Robben gone, Alves not on his way. A new manager as well.

5. Tottenham - At the end of the day, the midfield is still not top 4 standard.

6. Portsmouth - Liking the strong, hard-working midfield, proven quality defence and more goal scoring options. Hard to win at Fratton and it will prove even more difficult this coming season. Watch out for this mob!

7. Newcastle - Good manager, good squad, passionate fans, improved defence. Could easily finish as high at 5th, IF most of their key attacking player stay fit. (for once)

8. Aston Villa - Strong squad, with more signings to come. Many players have gone but all were average, bottom 10 standard players. (if that) Ever realiable defence, three good keepers, an improving midfield and good strikeforce. Good things ahead for this team. :thumbsu:
No right back (besides Delaney) at present but we're building it and he will come. (no, we will not be signing Kevin Costner, he turned us down to make 'Waterworld 2'. real rejection alright!!)
Not sure who the dude will be but a non-extravagant, proven quality European player would do. ie; Mellberg, Laursen, Bouma. Someone in that mould.

9. Man City - Excellent manager. He'll build a very hard to beat and break down team. Compatibility issues early but these will pass fast. Quality is there and happy times will soon be there again/at last.

10. Everton - Made some good signings. (albeit boring) Improved defence and maybe/hopefully some attacking signings to come. Until then, I think they are a little too predictable and will struggle to score/get results away from Goodison. 9th is the limit for Everton. (at the moment)

11. West Ham - Good team all across the park. I'm not feeling the signings though. (as much as Bellamy would like me to) Freddie is DONE. Bellamy is a w***er. Infact Bellamy + Dyer (if he's signed/when he does) = w***erS. Faubert seemed like a nice dude and then he got INJURED. Why am I YELLING? Not sure. This team has lost Yossi, Harewood and Reo-Coker and bought imo some average quality attacking playes. Parker is a good signing but exactly how good? They could quite easily crack the top 10 but in my unbiased, totally right opinion they'll fail to do this. Good side all the same.

12. Blackburn - I'm feeling their attacking quality and inventiveness. I really am! Big question marks over their restricitve qualitites though. (when it doesn't involve rule bending) This is ultimately the reason why they'll find themselves finishing amongst the bottom half of the table. p.s Mark Hughes is a toss.

13. Boro - Too many injuries early. In that time, will drop some they shouldn't.
I'd have them close to the top 10 otherwise. However, you can't afford any/a period with 100 defenders out. Don't get me started on Chelsea 06/07 again. ;)

14. Bolton - Won't be close to relegation, or Europe. They'll remain quite difficult to break down and the likes of Anelka, Diouf and Nolan will provide enough attacking quality. And expect something magical from MY MAN Campo!!

15. Fulham - Decent signings, nothing more. They'll be ok.

16. Sundertland - The best of the promoted sides.... but not by much. Gordon is an excellent signings and there has been quite a bit of $$$ spent which even though mostly on average players (and likely more), good enough players to keep the team in the PL next season.

17. Birmingham - A few good signings, particuarly in defence will be just enough to stay away from the Coke.

18. Wigan - Almost relegated last season, quite a bit spent this season but how much quality has that brought? Not so much imo. Wouldn't be surprised if they were relegated. Wouldn't be surprised if they weren't.

19. Reading - Losing Sidwell and not being active enough in the transfer market. Last season was excellent but like most, I doubt they can repeat the same this season. They'll do a West Ham imo. (strong first season, down to earth in the second) Only difference being. They'll actually be relegated.

20. Derby - I'd like to be different but I'm sorry Derby fans.... It's over. ;)
The problem for most of us non-coke people is that we know little of your side and what they present. This leads us to an opinion of 'what we don't know = shit'.
The majority are often wrong. However, a majority in agreeance with me is never wrong. So the signs aren't good.
Giles Barnes has the big talk about his stuff and there's probably one or two decent signings in there. Derby most remind me of Watford last season, in their entry to the league (I think), their signigns and people's general predcitions about their squad. Hopefully things turn out a little better than they did for Watford.

Predictions -

Going out on one here. Fab(ulou)regas to score 10+ EPL goals.

Jose Mourinho to be sacked either during the season or immeadiately after it.

Voronin to become the PL's new sex symbol.

Best Signing: Torres - He won't flop.
Biggest Flop: Ben-Haim. I don't rate him. Didn't cost anything in terms of $$$$ but he'll cost Chelsea some points.

Biggest Sliders: Bolton + Blackburn
Biggest Surprise: Newcastle + Villa
Golden Boot: Wayne Rooney

League Cup: Manchester United
FA Cup: Chelsea
Champions League: Barcelona
Promoted: Absolutely no idea. Hopefully Southampton are one of them.

I reserve the right to change this up until the season starts :) I expect a few clubs will buy some decent players, before it all starts, so it's hard to predict just yet.

1. Liverpool
2. Chelsea
3. Man Utd
4. Arsenal
5. Tottenham
6. Boro
7. Everton
8. Blackburn
9. Man City

Relegated: Birmingham, Wigan, Derby

Biggest Slider: Pompey

Biggest Flop: Sam Allardyce

Best Buy: Tuncay

Upset of the Season: Derby to beat ManU at Old Trafford

Player of the Season: Ronaldo

Manager of the Season: Benitez

Golden Boot: Drogba

Clean Sheets: Cech

First manager sacked: Harry

Man Utd's giant squad to get the better of Fergie, but I'll tip them to win the Champions League.

Some shockers in there :) If i'd swapped Spurs and Boro for Villa and Pompey it would look a little better. Might get ManU for the CL and tipped Stoke to go up but also Leicester  Whoever I tip to win the league from the big 4 always have a shocker. It's been Arsenal and Liverpool the last two seasons so I might put the kibosh on United next year :)

When does next season start? :thumbsu:

Right, ready to do mine.

1. Chelsea
2. Liverpool
3. Manchester United
4. Tottenham
5. Arsenal

Justification for this was Man United's heavy reliance on Ronaldo for goals last season, and thinking he probably wouldn't match that again. Well, he didn't match it....

The 4th/5th selection has been well commented on.
6. Blackburn
7. Newcastle
8. Portsmouth
9. West Ham
10. Everton
11. Aston Villa
12. Middlesbrough
13. Manchester City
14. Reading
15. Fulham
16. Birmingham
17. Sunderland
18. Bolton
19. Wigan
20. Derby
Not so bad, Bolton will go down next year. :p
Biggest surprise: Blackburn
Biggest slider: Bolton
Blackburn have done OK, but Everton and Villa would be contenders for that award, along with West Ham.

Reading take out biggest slider, with their second season syndrome being worse than I expected.
Best signing/s: Roque Santa Cruz (if he stays fit) and Younes Kaboul
Worst signing/s: Owen Hargreaves and Jason Koumas
Big :thumbsu: for Roque, an outstanding year. Kaboul....um, not so. Hargreaves still has to justify his pricetag but has played a role.
Player of the season: John Terry
Nup.
Manager of the season: Jose Mourinho (he's so special...)
Way off.
Biggest upset of the season: Liverpool to do the double over United.
I meant Manchester City. I'm sure I meant Manchester City.
Golden boot: Dimitar Berbatov
Probably reflected Spurs' season in many ways - more was expected.

All in all, the usual rubbish effort.

1. Chelsea
2. Manchester United
3. Liverpool
4. Arsenal
5. Tottenham
6. Everton
7. Blackburn
8. Portsmouth

9. Newcastle
10. Manchester City
11. West Ham
12. Middlesbrough
13. Aston Villa
14. Reading
15. Bolton
16. Birmingham
17. Sunderland
18. Fulham
19. Wigan
20. Derby

Only got a couple right in their actual positions, but wasn't exactly wrong with many either - Boro, City, West Ham, Everton all finished in that ballpark. :p

Best Signing: Darren Bent (just not for the fee they paid)
Biggest Flop: Fernando Torres
Golden Boot: Didier Drogba

Oops x3.

1st Manager Sacked: Chris Hutchings

Out by two. Knew he wouldn't last, though.

Promoted: Charlton, Wolves, West Brom

1 out of 3.

Month I Give up on Arsenal's Season: November

Lasted until April!

Champions League: Real Madrid
La Liga: Barcelona
Serie A: AC Milan
Bundesliga: Bayern Munich

Only got Bayern right there also.

No wonder I never win prediction games. I suck at it.

Wow, criminal spurs ahead of the arse, thought the scousers might get it right, happy enough to admit i was wrong. Screwed up newcastle big time, but i think koumas has been more than handy. Flop is about right. My promoted list is just awful, leicester:eek:
the others didnt even make the playoffs
