Agreed.

The EPL style is fast and physical moreso than the other leagues. This generally means that the EPL needs players already physically ready or technically competent to make up for their individual lack of physicality.

I.e. the EPL does not have time to nurture players and they want the finished product.

The other leagues know this, and the clubs nurture players until they can maximise profits via a sale to an EPL club.

An example from a Lazio fan's point of view is Wesley Hoedt.

Signed from AZ Alkmaar as a free transfer in 2015.

Sold to Southampton for 17 million euros in 2017.

Last season Leicester beat Sevilla to make the quarters. (The only English club to do so)

This season we've got 2, potentially 3 clubs if Chelsea beat Barca, making the quarters.

EPL on the improve!

City are the only English side with hope, but they haven't been tested so far. Get the strong feeling that no English side will be in the semis.

Just because two English teams choked, it doesn't mean the league is falling behind the other big leagues.

Man Utd would have probably won if Mou hadn't played a bland, soulless brand of football. As for Tottenham they might have had a chance if they didn't celebrate a 2-2 draw at Turin like they had already won the champions league.

Fact is the two best English teams are still in it and Chelsea could be too (all be it unlikely)

Thread bump is premature. Wait until the CL is over then make a judgment. Until then EPL still has three teams in it, which is equal most.

It's not like Tottenham lost to a bum team? Juventus are elite and not that far off being favourites themselves.

Yeah United shouldn't have lost to Sevilla but that speaks more for Mou screwing up both legs tactically.

City and Liverpool comfortably through (a loss and a draw in what were effectively dead rubbers don't matter)

If Chelsea knock out Barcelona (big ask) England will have 3 of the last 8 teams.

They don't really have the record in Europe, or experience, to suggest they'll be a threat.

They may very well get another soft draw in the Quarters, but there'll be no hiding in the semis.
They are a very good side. Record in Europe means **** all.

In the quarters we will (likely) have;

3 Spanish (will be 2 if Chelsea win)
2 English (will be 3 if Chelsea win)
2 Italian
1 German (likely)

The English clubs are pretty fairly represented are they not?

I think the main issue is that the 2 best players of this generation have chosen to play in Spain and the best national team of this generation is Spain and as a result the UCL has been dominated in recent times by Spain.
