Seems like every time a team loses it’s the referees fault. Coping mechanisms activated.
People should be able to question bad decisions for or against their side.

I don't think it was the refs fault Arsenal lost, but there were a few calls that went against them on the day.

It’s all people do on here after every loss. Referee whinging.
Not really. People just jump on anyone that questions a decision, and it turns out a bigger deal than it really is.

It's nice of VAR to return to form though. That kick on Jesus is a clear penalty as it was correctly given earlier in Crystal Palace v Liverpool.

It just comes down to which ref you get now and Arsenal fans know if Gillet is ref or VAR we will get ****ed over during the match. Clear penalty on Jesus not given, clear red card for Carlos elbowing Nketiah in the face well off the ball, and the ref at the end making a guess over who handballed it for the Havertz goal when protocol all last season and this season is officials let that goal stand and VAR reviews it.
Instead Gillet guesses on who makes the handball because from where he was standing there's no chance he saw it clearly, meaning VAR can't overturn it on a clear and obvious as they didn't when Arsenal lost to Newcastle.

If Arsenal get Gillet or Dean, the odds of fair officiating are basically non existent.

But end of the day for most of the match we were significantly better than Villa and didn't get the goals on the board. It's dropped points when we were the better team and hopefully it doesn't cost us in the long run.

Just think people need to grow up and accept that in a sport full of interpretations you’ll get some that go your way and some that don’t.
It's not a matter of growing up.

People want to discuss football on a football discussion forum. Including referees decisions.

Nothing wrong with it IMO.

And yep accusing referees of cheating which is what you’ve done here. The ‘at the end of the day’ ending has no value when in the paragraphs above you’ve blamed the referees and implied that they’re cheating Arsenal.

Which is what happens after pretty much any side loses. It’s not an occasional thing. The only genuine one is what happened to Liverpool earlier in the season which was a systematic failure and not an interpretive issue.

It really doesn't.

The lack of respect for officials starts with managers and players but all that the rubbish carry-on does is overflows into supporter behaviour. It’s why officials are so scarce in many sports now, starts with players and coaches, then it’s the parents etc

Just looking this morning at some of the comments from Arsenal fans on various social platforms really doesn’t make for good reading or present a measured or mature reaction. On here we’ve got an Arsenal fan make the implication of cheating.

The bigger issue on this forum is people complaining about people complaining about referees.
Hey! Stop complaining about people complaining about people complaining about refs!

Which is precisely the same as it was pre VAR.

VAR is mainly meant to stop howlers. There are still some howlers but mostly we are arguing over small details and interpretation. These are the exact same human judgements that have always been inconsistent.

Neither would have been handball outside of the penalty box. So I dont think a penalty would be right.

The rule says that you can't handball (deliberate or not) and score a goal, so it was correctly ruled out.

But I think it's a stupid rule.
It hit the defenders arm first though?

I think those who highlight people complaining about people complaining about referees, should be permabanned, as they constantly derail these threads.

We could end all of this just by giving Liverpool the title. Everyone cool with that?
They’re probably going to win about 4 when City’s punishment gets handed down so maybe someone else.

They do deserve to win one in front of a crowd though. 2020 or whenever they won it was really unlucky with the timing.

Watched the Palace v Liverpool highlights. The second yellow I think he initially wasn’t going to give but must’ve deemed it as being reckless on a counter attack.

Not the normal sort of one you see get given a yellow on the counter but if he deems it a foul and it’s a counter attack is it an automatic yellow?

That would’ve been the referees thought process anyway.

A little unlucky but on a yellow card you need to avoid fouling on a counter attack.

Nah. Citeh, Villa and Newcastle are preferred champions than Liverpool (in order)
Would definitely take the Scoursers over Arsenal for the title though.

I mean when there is a long and easily searchable history of the officials cheating Arsenal "just because" to the point where they have made numerous apologies and stood down officials, it stops being an "implication" of cheating and its a list of evidence :$
