Why should we sell one of the best strikers in the world, particularly considering he came through our ranks? Please don’t try and make out it’s akin to you selling coutinho.

To fund transfers. Coutinho funded Allison / Van Dijk - while short term it hurt us long term it has paid off (so far). We would be a much better team if we didnt sell him and still purchased the same players. Unfortunately for us we have to sell to spend big unlike others.

You had no choice to sell Coutinho, don’t make out it was some grand master plan the player didn’t want to stay. No club with ambition is going to sell Kane unless they have to, and when or if that time comes we’ll obviously be well compensated.

We didnt have to sell him at all. Thats exactly what happened in the summer window despite Barca trying every trick under the sun. Klopp addressed a difficult situation and turned it to our advantage. Your mob could have done the same wirh wantaway Alderwereld. Klopp has spent 93 million since his first window 3 years ago:

I am personally pretty happy with his transfer market activity. Big signings nailed on and also sustainable.

Spurs are unable to fund transfers to match the quality of Kane. The stats say he is in the same bracket of Messi, Ronaldo, Lewandowski with the amount of goal scored in the past calendar year.

It is far easier to replace Coutinho than it is to replace Harry Kane.

If Kane is sold, who realistically that they can purchase the will be able to score 30 premier league goals. Even 20 premier league goals. There is no one available that spurs could afford within their wage budget.

We haven't replaced Coutinho. Klopp changed our entire gameplan and signed a CB/keeper who have been huge successes so far. Maybe you guys need to sell a star player or two and do something similar.

As it was for us with Suarez. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.
but they dont need to do it. coutinho was sold with liverpool clinging onto top 4 and desperately needing a change up to their side. spurs have just had their best ever start to the season, and will be one of two sides who will be very unlucky to not win the title based on their form to the new year.

Spurs have finished in champions league positions for the past 3 seasons on a budget with Kane as their talliman.

Why the hell do they need to change their gameplan when they have been so successful and have improved their points position each season (this season included)?

How many trophies have you won in that period?

Spurs have won no trophies.

Spurs can't spend wages to match the likes of Man City, Man United, Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool.

Even if spurs free up 200m with the sale of Kane, the player they bring in to replace him will be an inferior quality because spurs dont have the ability to bring in players that want more than 100,000 pounds per week.

So what is the point of downgrading from Kane when the player itself is perfectly happy at his boyhood club and banging in the goals.

Explain to me how is selling Kane going to help Spurs win trophies.

Seriously if Kane is sold, they will fall and become a mid-table team again. No higher than 7th.

Maybe not Kane but you could have done alright by selling Alderwereld / Eriksen (I believe both have not committed to new contracts) and rebuilding. The reality is for clubs like Spurs and LFC is that you'll have to generate significant income from player sales to fund big name transfers. LFC is second only to Monaco I believe for transfer income.

But even in the unlikely event Kane was sold you could switch to a fluid front 3 system like us and sign another two world class attackers for the amount generated by a Kane sale easily. It would require a reshuffle of the team but that's exactly what Klopp has done and it has paid off. Pochettino is a very good manager and could do it.

No Spurs couldn't. Which world class attackers would be willing to sign for Spurs at a wage of less than 100,000 pounds per week.

Harry Kane is on 200k / week now. Your other new deals are 150k / week. You have the ability to pay those wages.

In any case you dont have to splash the big wages to land a star player. Salah was on 90k / week when he signed. Now on the same wages as Kane with his new deal and worth every bit.

The irony in Spurs fans showing themselves up in this thread as bellends while accusing others of the same is enormous. Not surprising that the biggest ever meltdown (MD36) and the biggest ever jockstrap on an internet forum (GB) are both from Spurs and it is not surprising why they are not liked. The behaviour displayed in the last page or 2 shows exactly why.
That self awareness.

So Spurs options are to:

1. Keep Kane
OR
2. Sell Kane and hope a 'star' playing in a lower (international) league, will successfully make the transition to become a star premier league player.

I think they would rather go with the sure thing and keep Kane.
Salah is the exception not the norm. How many other players from Italian league lately have become successful EPL players?

https://www.bigfooty.com/forum/threads/transfer-discussion-thread.1202085/page-24#post-59181047:

Van Dijk had nothing to do with the Coutinho transfer, that was publically stated by all parties. Klopp was allowed to retain Coutinho until the end of the season but decided to let him go in January.

And it's not just Lallana. We only had 3 fit midfielders for the last month of the season all of whom had to play every minute of every game. They were tired and wouldn't have played anywhere near as much had Coutinho been retained until season's end. And Lallana just didn't have the legs to get back and help out the midfielders like Salah did creating a snowball effect.

For me selling Coutinho was the right choice - but done in the summer window.

Think you'll find fans of all clubs that believe they are "the world's greatest club" - it certainly isn't any different for Spurs, Liverpool, Leicester or Woking fans. It is clear on here that the general Liverpool fan does not believe that though and would be a huge misrepresentation to suggest otherwise. I'd suggest the only thing irking opposition supporters (and especially Spurs fans for some reason) is Liverpool's position on the league table. Especially when many were openly implying Spurs were far superior at the start of the season. The only deflection going on in here is from Spurs fans deflecting questions about justifying their claims that there are supposedly more "tragics" and "bellends" in their supporter groups as a ratio but when pressed as to how they can justify that they have no answer but to repeat their mantra.
Why dont you guys sell Kane for 180m and do what we did mid season last year?

The poster claiming Spurs can't pay 200k wages?
Selling the best defender and best midfielder in the squad to fund a rebuild that isn’t needed.

Waffling on about a Kane sale. You get he re-signed in the summer yeah?

You’ve legit rambled on about utter nonsense

Why do you think it’s irking the opposition that you are top? I think you’ll find most people would prefer Liverpool top than City - if it were not for your fans! Spurs fans are no different from any other in thinking you have something of a deluded fanbase so not sure why you are singling us out.

Haha come on mate. Without provocation Spurs fans walk into this thread with a chip on their shoulders and start hurling s**t at Liverpool and its supporters, now you're complaining that you're being unfairly singled out?

:violin:

Pretty sure I also had Liverpool finishing above us in the predictions thread so you’re wrong on that also. We’ve been hearing for the past five years how you’ll finish above us so that’s probably why you got stick about it. This season it actually looks like you will but that’s what spending £200m gets you and your rival spends diddly squat

2 title challenges and 3 cup finals (including the Champions League) - as a supporter, hand on heart I honestly wouldn't trade our last 5 years for yours.
