EPL Matchday 24

You have much better depth players than Leeds too though so not sure what you're getting at.

Liverpool's resources are a billion times better than that of Leeds.

And lol at all of Matip, Gomez and VVD being starters, they only play two CB’s.

Its literally the same amount of injuries in the same positions as Leeds.

Koch/VVD, Gomez/Llorente, Fabinho/Phillips, Jota/Rodrigo, Matip/Berardi.

Sure but the amount of injuries we have had hurts any depth really as you've seen this season with having to play R.Williams and Phillips. Part of that is on management though for starting the season with 3 senior CB's, two of whom are injury prone. Still it's a rough, rough season for injuries which has completely derailed our season.

But we fight on, still lots to play for, must secure top four and one foot in the QF's of the CL.

And Leeds playing 20 year old Pascal Struijk for most of the season at CB and DM is...?

Yeah but poor little old Liverpool.

Surprising to hear you use the relativisim argument given your most famous thread and the point of that thread being that Arsenal have higher expectations than a lot of teams, as do Liverpool. So Liverpool losing their best players while still allowing them to compete, is below the standards Liverpool expect to be able to compete at.

If Matip and VVD are injured, then Gomez is a starter, yes? If you had every single CB injured at your club would you say you only have 2 starters injured and therefore there's no big deal?

Stop moaning it's embarrassing. Even with our Cbs we probably wouldnt be challenging. Our front three has been thrash.

Jotas early season form before his injury papered over the cracks of this team.

No but when someone complains that they are missing 5 genuine starters when in fact it is 3 starters and then their 2 best backups for a position just say it rather than trying to exaggerate the loss

That's a fair point, I was more discussing it from a "how much of a crisis is this" perspective.

Err isnt their main CB pairing Koch and Cooper who have played 17 and 11 games for Leeds in the PL from a possible 23 games. In contrast VVD has played 5 games and Gomez 6. Matip just 9 for good measure.

Yeah seems exactly the same.

Llorente is our other CB who has only played 1 or 2 games due to injury. Llorente and Koch would probably have been the first choice CBs by now if everyone was fit. Cooper has been OK but still not sure he is up to Premier League standard.

Llorente was a £20m signing and is a Spanish international CB.

He would be playing ahead of league two Liam.

White and Cooper/Berardi were their main pairing prior to this year.

League Two Liam? PMSL. He's their captain.

Recognize who you are speaking to.

league two liam has actually done pretty well this year i reckon.
He has been good but has his moments. Struijk has been good as well at cb. Llorente and Koch were brought for cb but both can also cover Phillips at DM. Unfortunately as both are missing, covering Phillips has been a bit of a s**t show.

I think I read the other day our win % with Phillips was around 45%, and without him it’s 16%.

uh, okay?

contact alone i dont think it should be overturned. but it's offside. but they dont check the offside. what a shambolic system.

Theres a lack of understanding here of the offside rule. A foul before the ball is played = penalty. A foul after the ball is played = offside.

This is actually made pretty clear in the offside laws. So Pawson couldnt give offside.

What a stupid rule

lol @ Fernandes. Barely gets touched and is down like he was shot and takes a year to get up. Running around now like nothing happened.
Bloody resilient fella. Can't imagine what'd feel like to be shot by a sniper every match and play 3 days later. #Respect

I find it very confusing when a lot on here don't list the English football team they follow as one of their 'Other Teams' under their avatar. Makes it bloody hard trying to work out who they are arguing for in some of these posts.
Except Liverpool supporters, they are easy to spot on any post they make

Not at a stupid rule at all. Why should a defender be allowed to take a player out just because they are in an offside position? Preventing them being in position for a cross from the next phase of play by an onside teammate.

You're offside if you're in an offside position and you make a move towards the ball. Maguire did that long before he was shot by a sniper from the stands.

You don't need to wait for the ball to reach the player for him to be offside.

The defender doesn't touch the player if they know they are offside because there is no point. He was running towards the ball, therefore he's in an offside position.

That's how the EPL is reported.

We beat Spurs or Liverpool 70-80% of the time spent analysing the game will be about those teams not us.

Leeds are lucky in that we have a fairly large fanbase, esp in the media, and the UK Press seemingly is enchanted by Marcelo Bielsa (and who can blame them), but as a result, I do think that PR wise, our results tend to garner more media coverage and praise than Brighton (who have really had a really good last month and a bit of football, after they/you looked like relegation candidates)
