Newcastle boss Steve Bruce talking to Sky Sports: "I can understand why Spurs will go beserk and Roy Hodgson reacted like he did. It is a total nonsense, we should be jumping through hoops but I would be devastated if that was us. Maybe Roy is right, maybe we all need to get together. The decisions are ruining the spectacle. We have to get together as managers and say this must stop.

But they paid the Koch one at Anfield despite it deflecting off his leg first.

The rule is in complete disarray and when you have a slow mo look at it five minutes after the fact you’re going to alienate a lot more fans than you gain.
Body to hand you say...

I don't know what to tell you guys. The rule needs tweaking.

Newcastle were horrible - looked sh*t all game, defended everyone behind the ball even with 10 minutes left

its ok though lump it forward to Carroll at the end and look for a handball penalty.... well deserved.
Standard Newcastle, you look at their expected points last year and they got about 15 more than they should through either luck like that or dubravka. It will be the same this year. Bruce is an ordinary manager. He's got the talented players there but still manages like a league two club

Am I watching the same coverage? He’s come on and said it’s a bad rule that he doesn’t like but while it’s in the rule book, the refs have to apply it. Can’t pick and choose which rules they apply, so they’re in a no win position.

Steve Javie is a full time shill though, absolutely. A bloke could bring out a machete and he’d say that it was a good no call.

No you're right, I was probably being unfair to him. He didn't seem real happy about the rules.

The other week he said that the KWP red card was the right call and then the ref changed it to a yellow and he also said that it was the right call haha, so I just don't see the point of ex refs being on when they are just yes men. But yeah I was probably unfair in this case.

Ex refs who feature in the referee analysis rarely say anything of merit in world sport, but I thought he was pretty fair tonight.

Barely watched any Premier League media in recent times, for obvious reason, so I don’t have a history with him but wouldn’t surprise me if he did turn out to be as shilly as the rest.
