Really struggle to understand how it seems like Arsenal buy a centreback each season yet are still absolutely garbage in defence. Like surely even if you choose bargains each year surely one will come off eventually.

They have orchestrated their own downfall here.

Everyone knew Luiz was a footballing cretin years before the Scum signed him.

Worried about Willian big time now. Cech and Luiz look like Chelsea double agents :D

19/20: Mari, Saliba, Luiz
18/19: Sokratis
17/18: Mavropanos
16/17: Mustafi, Holding
15/16:
14/15: Chambers, Gabriel

Most still at the club and you would argue they've become a worse team defensively in that time.
Think their CDM is worse than ours and that says something!

Liverpool were in the same boat before we finally just bit the bullet and bought Van Dijk.

Having Van Dijk as your partner has definitely helped the other players to lift their game also*

*well anyone not named Lovren

The linesman should still be alerting the ref if they think the ball has crossed the line so then the ref can go to VAR and overrule the watch.

Again this is probably a one in 18,000 event (9,000 games on average 2 times used per game) so no need to drastically change things. But there should be some extra safe guards in place to ensure it doesn't happen again in 9,000 games time.

Simple, the VAR ref should review all goals without waiting for the onfield ref to ask for a review and advise immediately if a goal has clearly been scored. That should ensure it never happens again.

Then that's certainly f’ed. Just check the replay my dudes.
Whoa whoa whoa... you're expecting them to be competent? I mean sure enough they had 100 days to fix themselves but this is VAR we're talking about.

Cech was good at Arsenal though.

He'd have checked 17,999 incidents without being needed because hawk eye picked it up. This just happened to be the one that didn't

Wow var having to review incidents at the ground, the poor overworked guy watching footage.

He wasn't terrible, a definite upgrade on the shit we had at the back there for a while after lehmann anyway, sczezny (sp?) has made a good career for himself since but was too young when he was at arsenal had a lot of work to do still, everyone else was garbage.

Was replaced with Leno and when it came to your biggest match in decades in Baku most fans wanted him out of the team.

He was ok but over the hill.

Yeah he was ok but like you said over the hill, still better than what we had for a while, leno an upgrade though for sure

Quoting myself but had more to say. Always try to get him but Arsenal will not budge. Drives me nuts haha.

There's an edit button. :)

Well not really, majority of goals are clear cut. VAR guy just needs to check any close calls without having to be prompted by the onfield ref.

In reality it should be pretty easy to catch very unlikely scenarios like the SU non goal every time.

Is he instructed to show initiative or do the rules need changing?

I believe the current ruling is that the onfield ref needs to ask for clarification on goal line calls due to goalline tech being seen as 100% reliable. Not 100% sure, would have to delve into the ifab stuff.
