In terms of managers and players, the geographical distance and isolation is the reason why they get snubbed more than your average Euro nation.

The last two decades has seen very little Aussie players in the Premier League and I can't help but think there may be something potential bias in-play. Australia as a nation has more often punched above their weight and even after making the Rd of 16, 2022 World Cup , I thought there may have been at least a couple of Socceroos that could have moved for higher pastures.
You're over rating the hell out of that team. We had guys like Schwarzer Viduka, Kewell, Cahill and to a lesser extent Emerton, Neill because of pure talent. None of the 2022 team even makes the bench of the 98-10 teams.
There's no bias, our players have generally been getting worse since that period.

From that 2022 team you could probably make an argument for Irvine and Ryan on the bench, Ryan would be behind Schwarzer but would be on the bench in the 06 and 10 WCs.

And Ryan did play in the Prem, but yeah I think my point still stands. In terms of quality it's no where near that team

That Manchester United supporter who hasn’t had a haircut in a year because he said he won’t have one until we’ve won five games in a row would have had much better luck if he made it five Liverpool losses in a row.

Really enjoyable game to watch. Slabhead with the winner but the volley cross from Fernandes was brilliant. Liverpool not getting much out of Salah, Isak and Wirtz.

I confess I didn't stay up to watch it Live but am looking forward to enjoying the replay on Stan.

Serious question for fans of Liverpool*, a club I respect as much as I dislike, much like Geelong in the AFL: Do you think Slot has ruined a well-oiled machine by buying half-a-team of expensive players he's now trying to fit in - or is it too early for panic to set in?

*I consider Liverpool to be a proper football club, much like United and Arsenal - and very unlike nouveau-riche upstarts like City or Chelsea, who'd go back to being mediocre if and when they lost the owners that bankroll them.

Im more on the line the opportunities an Australian would get. Given the more competitive landscape of the Premier League compared to 25 or 30 years ago, there is a deeper plethora of players from more around the world that want to come to England and its the number 1 destination league. Australians generally have to work that bit harder compared to the Euros and South Americans. With an Expanded World Cup, searching for talent, I believe its just that bit harder compared to the Golden Generation of the Socceroos when they made it in 2006.

Case being in point is the Australians beating Denmark in 2022. I dont rate Denmark as a nation. Where a country like Denmark has an advantage over Australia, is the geography and the fact that it competes under the banner of UEFA.

We've already gone back to what we were before Roman, a side flirting around the 3rd to 6th spots. Like we were under Bates.

Arsenal, United and Pool are no different from any other team in the league. Rich owners spending a fortune to win stuff.

This evening? Nope, just happy to correct one of SM's many false corrections in the know-it-all leagues. Man United often raise their game against Liverpool in recent years, and today was no different. All credit to them.

This morning was our first win at Anfield in 9 years. It was a surprising win.
