I don't pretend to have all the answers, but I know what we're doing at the moment is completely void of any practical or equitable economic sense...

How do we reach the path of enlightenment?

.
Who say we're in enlightenment? If you do, thank you for the compliment. I can't speak for radiojake, but I don't say I am. I feel he's on the money though. Your attitude though is a start, means their life in their somewhere.

I visited the zoo the other day, first time in decades. I spent some times around the lions. Two females and 1 male. the male "mujambi" was separated from the women. He had a seizure a few years ago and the dominant female attacked him. so they keep him separated. when i was there , he was doing this figure eight along side the females cage, it was repetitive, went on for hours, he was clearly tense.clearly wanted to be with the women. This would not be good for his epilepsy. screwed up zoo staff couldn't see this. but his figure eight was such a way he didn't look at humans, out side the cage. He reminded me of psych clients I use work with. I sat down in a spot where for a brief second we'd be front on to with eachother. for about 4 passes he held eye contact a fraction of a second longer than the last. Until this pretty skinny single chick came and stood in front of me with her sexy arse in my face.

Mujambi is sad, his spirit is broken, his eyes reminded me of the eyes of aboriginal in this country and the photos of aboriginals taken to Brittan and put in zoos. Reminded me of the eyes of a pych patient.

You want to know why they attacked him? when he had a seizure? Because that shit is hereditary, he is no good as a breeder. The males don't hunt with the pride, so he is nothing but a negative for the survival of the pride. So the dominant female made a hard call. That is enlightenment. This zoo has no other male, probably won't get one, the zoo is in debt. The lions are a drawcard. So they drag out Mujambi's pain.

I was talking to a few baby boomers the other day and we stuck up a good convo.......

Q, Does the globe need 3rd world countries to support the way we live ??

It sounds really bad but is a legitimate question. If 3rd world countries/citizens were all on good money, could the lifestyle as we all know sustain itself ?

I know there is a few posters that have a good mind for these sorts of topics, Would love to hear from you.

Thoughts ?

Two parts to this.

Can the Earth sustain all 7 billion of us consuming natural resources at the rate of the West? No, absolutely not.

Do the rich need the poor to support their lifestyle? Yes, they do.

Middle eastern (persian nations) have been trying to get equality for decades. Americans and poms keep arming, supplying and training groups to make sure that doesn't happen.

so yes, we need them to be 3rd world countries to support our way of life.
Question: how much money do you go through a week on tin foil?

That's not even close to tin foil hat territory..

open your eyes...

had a feeling when I saw the notification said "MenzalBreakdown has replied..." that it was going to be a post worth reading
Has a feeling when I saw the notification "radiojake has quoted you post..." that the second member and lieutenant of the tin foil brigade would add exactly nothing.

Also, equating the Middle East to Persia is incredibly offensive to the Arabic people of that region.I wouldn't call the Iranians the champions of equality either: http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs...on-as-it-tries-to-reverse-birth-rate-decline/

This post is so awesomely shit on so many levels. Its like string theory of shit posts shit.

I'm not a neo-malthusian because his argument looks solely at population, and his views were quite often driven by his absolute distaste for poor people, who he considered the problem.

The planet could very well easily feed up to 10 billion people, but the issue isn't hte number of people, it's the amount of consumption that the affluent partake in. That is the issue, and that's the biggest driver of inequality and poverty on the planet...

Sounds to me like a very similar argument. Replace eating with buying things.

Again - classic Malthusian argument
