IMO a point that should be noted with Sav's development and the time involved is that the 2020 season was a wreck for all the VFL and development and that combined with the soft cap this year has probably not helped either.

No Otto, no Brad Johnson, no Stokesy and these are just the ones off the top of my head - that were around the club and now cannot be paid to be.

Given that Sav didnt start footy until later in the teens - the basic are still not as developed as they could be. But IMO he cant get the extra time and specialist attention now bc of the AFLPA and CBA agreements on training time and contact hours, and even if he had made the time the resources, IMO, are less available than they were.

And that face hes been moved around from ruck, to forward etc... its probably just diluted things even more.

That all said, should he be better - yes - but id also say he would be had the last 2 years not been the s**t show its been worldwide. And it might not get better any time soon so he's got to find a way to make the best of the situation hes in.

and if you look at Stewy and Sav skills wise - both taken around picks 40 - there are noticeable differences - and IMO the extra skills and coaching Sav needs and hasn't got has contibuted to the widening of that gap.

Confirmed.

Would have been very surprised to not see him re-signed, but kinda interesting that it's only 2 years and not 3 years which would have taken him to FA status, unless the AFL changes the rules within the next couple of years

Hope this takes some pressure off things from an off field perspective with having his immediate future secured, that he can focus on the on-field side of things and building upon what we saw against Freo when he runs out in game #50 this week

Two years probably works for both parties. If he improves, he gets bigger bucks sooner, if he doesn't, he's not a dead weight on the SC.

I seriously doubt he cares about FA - strikes me as a one club player

Memories of when he was first drafted.

So who’s that to O’Connor’s left? And is Sparkle’s hair naturally blonde?
Isn't that Ryan Abbott to O'Connor's left

And to the left of Abbott is Tim House

Looks like Tom Stewart to me :moustache:

I took it as meaning to the left as we're looking at the photo - that would make Stewart to the right as we see it

Really happy to hear Sav will be staying a cat! Will never get sick of seeing flying for pack marks. Seems like the kinda guy who will work hard at his game and repay the faith in the years to come.

Happy with this. Hawkins probably has 2 years left so he has a bit more time to develop to take on a key forward role if he’s good enough. He’ll be playing though a bit of VFL when both Hawk and Cameron are fit you’d think.
IF?
