If Sav plays this week, all i want him to do is compete with McGovern in the air and bring the ball to ground, if he can stop McGovern from getting his intercept marks its probably more valuable than him kicking goals and getting more of the footy

Well, I Disagree.
Just remember this, he is not a CHF he is a Forward-Ruck Hybred.
We do not have a CHF in the Magoos.... and No No Krueger is not one.... Nor is Buzza.
He (a CHF) will have to come via Free Agency or via trade for i would say Tim Kellsay. Did someone say Jarrod Brander??
He plays in the CHF spot that keeps our structure and is there to creates a contest to allow our smalls a fighting chance, something we did not have previously. Also providing back-up ruck work for Stanley.
Those who are of the opinion he is a CHF have been drinking way too much cool aid i'm afraid.
Anyway let see what comes from the next half a dozen games til the bye and then we will have a better body of work to analyse it a lot better.
Cheers & Go Catters!!

We do not have a CHF in the Magoos?
We choose one every week.
Sav is a hybrid CHF/Ruck, no problems replacing him.

There is no such thing as a “hybrid” forward/ruck, the only reason he is put into the ruck is to relieve Stanley as we don’t have a second ruck playing. This is not some natural positional thing it’s simply out of tactical necessity. He is a forward who can relieve in the ruck when required as other big key forwards also can including Hawkins, yet Hawkins is not a “hybrid” ruck forward. If he is not doing his job as a key forward then he shouldn’t be in the team.

I think your using the hybrid ruck thing to try and mask poor forward performances a little.

he is not providing a contest or giving anything around the ground of up forward.

We would get more value up forward and in the ruck by playing either fort or abbot

So by your reckoning he'll be replaced with Buzza...
Thank God Scotty & Co pick the teams and not you.
Thank you LORD.
Cheers Boys!

U lost me at... “No such thing hybrid forward-ruck”
And then again with that doosey “he is not providing a contest or giving anything around the ground.... “
Clearly u haven’t got any idea but that’s ok as you are not on your pat malone.
We will have to agree to disagree.
So I’ll stick with Scotty & Co on their assessment on Sav as they have more of an idea than u or me.

Who are these so called hybrid 50/50 forward rucks?? Your either a ruckman who can pinch hit forward or a forward who can pinch hit in the ruck to relief. Who are these supposed fifty split players who are both?? The closest I can ever think of is brad ottens and he was a ruckman who pinch hit forward.

I am a sav fan I think he has great talent, he just isn’t giving anything as a forward at present. He is getting beaten terrible in the contests, he isn’t marking or even positioning well, he isn’t kicking goals, he isn’t getting the ball, he isn’t tackling.

He needs a spell in the twos and see if he can improve to the standard we need

His quick tall mobile good mark and has a great kick. why you apparently say he can’t play CHF is very odd. Not sure your logic there

You forgot two important descriptions... Strength and contested footy. Like Chook last year he'll stay in the VFL for the majority of the year.
The guy needs a season or two in the gym... very much like Mitch Brown needed. If he doesn't he'll just be a Mitch Brown clone... albeit a quicker one.

Well since u asked....
My all time favourite Corey McKernan....
Then there was Brad Ottens, David Hale, Steve Alessio, Tom Boyd all Premiership players that played vital roles in winning Flags.
Of course there were others like Justin Koschitzke, Kurt Tippett and lets not forget Joey Daniher was a dominant ruckman-forward as a junior prior to entering the AFL.
Even the Great Adam Goodes himself was a ruckman-forward in the U18 comps that played as ruckman-forward for the Bloods.
So i think this pissing argument is a waste of my time as u see it one way and i another.
So i'll just leave the argument right here as it won't be going anywhere in convincing one side or the other.
Cheers & Go Catters!!

Mitch Brown had some really dominant games in the vfl when first drafted. Sav barely gets the ball at vfl level

None of those players are a hybrid, they are either a ruckman or a forward who can just rest forward or relief in the ruck. It isn’t such a thing as a hybrid.

But if that’s what you mean by hybrid then sure. Tom Hawkins is also by definition a 50/50 hybrid ruck forward going off your logic.

Strength you only need to a certain extent, the modern game has moved away from the man mountain physicality and more towards a leaner agile quick mobile tall such as nick riewoldt and Jeremy Cameron. You don’t need huge strength to be a CHF anymore as it’s a bigger running game these days.

Krueger has all the attributes to be a good CHF

His a great talent sav and still only 20 years of age so he has some time to go back and work hard on his craft, but his output is just terrible so far this season at AFL level. He only needs to kick his 1-2 goals a game to stay in the side. Doesn’t need to set the world on fire, just play to a basic AFL standard

We have now seen Hawkins get triple teamed by the hawks as they literally left sav to help out. They are starting to realize he is our weakness and peeling off him to assist in the air and also run out of defense.

He looked a lot better last season before his break, but the leg break isn’t really an excuse since he came back before seasons end and had a huge pre season.

Think sav May only have so many lives left playing like this before he gets the chop.

Club must decide if we train him as a forward or a ruck. Hasn't played the game long enough to learn both

Wouldn’t mind developing him as a ruck...

Happy for them to continue trying him as a key forward for a bit.
I don't think he has the size and endurance to play in the ruck, to be honest.

He can leap over NicNat, but that's because he's small, so he has to. He can't do it all game - he doesn't have a naturally big tank to begin with.

His best asset, IMO, is his ability to crash a contest and that's something we need up forward, especially in a post-Hawkins era. Besides, you can acquire a ruckman with more ease than a key forward.

I am the only true hybrid around here.
