Tres cool, saw them play at MoJo's in 1998. local and chartbusters. Beat that anyone!

Just heard on the radio that now we have Eskimo Joe as our number 1 ticket holders the Melbourne Storm have moved to get Milli Vanilli as theirs:D

I saw The Church in a small bar in Canberra in 1980 when their current single was "Unguarded Moment".

I also saw AC/DC at the Perth Royal Show in 1974 when Bonn Scott was singing. I was in Primary School but I do remember them playing "Baby Please Don't Go".

If you hunt with the hounds and run with foxes you're a Freagle.

The song is called "From the Sea" .
When they became Freagles I stopped listening to them.

Some mistakes can be blamed on inexperience, immaturity or ignorance. Misplaced support is not a plea.

I'm offended by our Club's selection.

Obviously the Esk'y will need to convince a lot of Members they deserve such prestigious recognition. I hope they can.

Awesome! That's the one. Ahhh memories.

I certainly loved their "Girl" album. Unfortunately most of their stuff sounds the same now but they know what sells.

Boppo I saw them support Custard in some venue backing onto the Grosvenor I couldn't tell you when but I'm guessing it would have been about 1998 too.

Can anyone here (that isn't already wealthy) honestly say if you were offered the chance to make a one off fee of xthousand bucks plus the residual royalties and APRA payments that go with a TV ad you wouldn't sell a song to West Coast or {insert great Satan of choice}?
I know I'd do it and I know it wouldn't make the slightest bit of difference to supporting Freo.

How many thousands? I can't comment on selling a song but I certainly wouldn't appear on TV in an eagles jumper for a couple of grand.

It mentions at the 1:49 mark in this video that only one member of the band is a big footy fan and he's an Essendon supporter.

Couldn't care less if they used a song for a WC ad (which I've never seen, don't watch FTA TV). What is more relevant is they are a truly awful and lame band. Fairly annoyed with this decision, but I'll get over it once I finish typing this.

Agree with the bolded part, here's the ad if you're interested.

As a musician the decision really offends me, because quite frankly I have ZERO respect for them as artists.

Another interesting fact, they apparently made royalties of 300k each after 'A Song Is A City' not including the West Coast commercial or so the rumour indicated somewhere around that mark. They still managed to claim $30,000 after this, from an ARTSWA grant allocation to tour Europe and America to further promote their music. As a local musician the ARTSWA grant money is the most essential tool a WA band/artist can have access to, and it was just a kick in the teeth seeing a band who could easily fund their own tour, manage to apply and win DOUBLE the amount any other local band has ever received to do something, they could afford themselves and even though they had already 'MADE IT' on some level most musicians would die to achieve.

Makes me sick that they didn't even realise Paul Hasleby played for East Fremantle, and furthermore the main football fan is an Essendon fan.

**** this noise.

And every media outlet is now using it as another avenue to have a crack at our club song. Yawn.

I loved the Church, still have them on my regular playlist.

The Eski's are a great choice, loud and proud and all things Freo. They will take the role seriously and make sure the club get some coverage.

"Thanks" for the ad Dom, although I stopped it after 8 seconds.

What is with all this referring to them as "The Eski's". Sounds ridiculously lame, but then again probably appropriate. Summerthebat is spot on, I play guitar and honestly Eskimo Joe are nothing but an absolute joke of a band. They make utterly crap music. I don't know any proper musician who thinks otherwise. Plus it turns out they aren't really hardcore fans, very ordinary decision by the club.

I'm a musician too so yeah that's a real kick in the balls.

How many musicians does it take to change a light globe?
One to do it and 3 to stand there going "that should be me up there!"

(Disclaimer - I've been a professional muso since 1983 & I don't like Eskimo Joe's music much, just having a crack at the tall poppy envy in this thread).

Please, there are plenty of other bands to be genuinely envious over, than 4/4 band that had to steal melodies from 'The Neverending Story' to rise to fame.

Johnny Cash twice...

thank ****, im not the only one who thought that. the neverending emergencyyyyy

As for the Church, I watched Stevie from a front table at Friends restaurant a month or so ago. Still has it.

Eskimo Jo, I rocked on with those lads at uni along with other bands like Twank and others. Good times. They were part of the Freo culture then and I doubt they ever lost it. So I reckon go F*ck all you do gooders that think you sell your soul by making money. That is deep - isn't it?

Who has an agent?

What is the most common phrase a musician uses in his/her work? A. "Would you like fries with that?"
I quite like some of Eskimo Joes songs. Can't understand all the jealousy and hatred here, I don't blame them for selling their sells to the Devil, if someone offered me big dollars i'd probably do the same (even though i hate the weags).

My dislike of Eskimo Joe does not stem from them making money or being popular, it stems from them making completely talentless/bland/unoriginal/etc music and acting like arrogant w***ers in the process.

Eskimo Joe gets caught with Blow!
line_515.gif

Eskimo Joe's keyboard player has been given a good behaviour bond, after pleading guilty to cocaine possession in a Sydney court this week.

27-year-old Dan Bull was busted over just a gram of the drug, after paying 300 dollars for it during a night out in Sydney.

No conviction was recorded, meaning he can still tour the U-S with the rest of the band.

WHOA OH, STRAIGHT DOWNNNNNNNNN

Story is from 2005. Isn't that about the time From the Sea was being used as a promotional song for the weegs. Coincidence? I think not.

dude was disbarred from the legal profession as well

i wish nothing but bad tidings on this band
