How did they figure that one out?

United are reigning English Champions, made it to the quarter finals of the Champions League last season, they're pretty much through to the final 16 of this years Champions League competition, and they're sitting 3rd.

Arsenal have the FA Cup, got knocked out in the Group stages of last season's Champions League, they're on a lifeline in this year's Champions League, and whilst they're sitting first, they're only 2 points ahead of United.

Even more amazingly, Arsenal were two places ahead of United in the last set of rankings.

I love soccer - but I find that list as interesting and relevant as the Women's Tennis Singles rankings.
But what would the Americans know about soccer anyway?Didn't a Yank say that Ian Botham was the best cricketer of all time a few years ago?

Leverkusen, a team that nearly got relegated ahead of Bayern. Gee maybe on Bundesliga games this year. But on nothing else!

I think they're probably taking into account the bit of extra help that the FA gave Man U last season.

The ESPN rankings are ****. They have no idea. Arsenal shouldnt be on top of Man Utd, simply because Arsenal are almost out of the Champions League and are only 2 points ahead in the EPL. Lazio somehow moved up 5 spots after a nice 4-0 hammering from Chelsea.

The FA might be, but the world isn't.

Ahhhhhhhh so you admit it at last do you?

So now I want you to say that last season's championship is forever tarnished, even more than all the others that you've accumulated in that broom cupboard you call a trophy room.

And then I want you to give Frank Stapleton back & Viv Anderson while you're at it, how dare you sign players from your rivals don't you know that the code of conduct for big clubs dictates that it's alright to plunder the weak but not one another.......oh & we'll have Luke Chadwick back as well while you're righting past wrongs......... but we don't want Andy Cole so make sure he stays at Blackburn with his boyfriend.

Well, they might be against Arsenal, but they're definitely against Manchester United.

Three English teams in the top 10 - and rightly so.

About time Stuttgart starts getting more recognition - best team in Germany at the moment by far.
Yes, and even though I'm a Bazi through and through, I dips me lit to what VfB has done. They have been in severe financial trouble of late, so basically had no option but to go for youth. Whilst clubs like Bayern has gone for Makaay and Demchellis, overseas stars bought witrh a high price tag, Felix Magath has blooded young goers like German-Brazilian striker Kevin Kuranyi, fleet-footed defender/midfielder Andreas Hinkel, and 19 Bayern amateur Phillip Lahm (who is already being mooted for a nation team call-up). They are all at or near national team level already. Which in a league over 65% infiltrated by crap foreign imports is something to be proud of.

To beat the likes of Man United etc in Europe with a team of pups is a true credit to Magath and the faith he has in his young players.

Whether they can hold out at the end of the season remains to be seen.

But good luck to them for giving young GERMAN players a go in any case.
