Every club that's building reaches a cross road where they can either continue to build and go onto top 4 and being a real contender or they fall back to the teams underneath. There's nothing particularly relevant or special about St.Kilda to Essendon's situations. Other teams go onto win premierships in future years.

Plenty of reason to be upbeat about Essendon. Main goal needs to be upgrading the bottom handful and expanding the list to 27 - 30 AFL quality players that currently stands at maybe 24 - 25.

Certain clubs will just get caught in the whirlpool, e.g. st kilda is caught yoyoing between 6 and 11 due to having a decent list but not good enough.

If you go up a bit, port is the team yoyoing between 3rd and 6th, they have a top 4 side but not good enough to be a contender.

Once you are near, yo got to hop it onto the platform and stay there firmly.

We were only paying 95% of the cap for a number of years so we banked a lot of cap space it’s allowed us to do what we have done the last couple of years we also traded Bruce who was on a good contract I still think we have our hearts set on chasing Ben king when his next contract is up

I see this a lot and I think it would be stupid unless you bring Ben in to play CHB.

Depends on the players surrounding them modern day forwards seem to be getting bigger and bigger also both kings have extremely good agility for there size

You can only pay less than 100% of the cap for 3 years and then the AFLPA will take that 5% you banked from that year and distribute it to the players on the list for that year.

Which is likely why Carlton was at 105% this year. Bank two years, then spend on contracts in year three. Start cycle again.
