The winning a final thing is a bit silly really. I mean, if you're not winning flags does it matter how many finals you've won? And our last flag was more recently than a lot of other clubs.

For clubs like North Melbourne, making finals is achievement enough.

Except from the haters on BF of course mate, the ones that cannot acknowledge the improvement of this club on the back of youngsters and a first year coach. But you know the x number of days since we won a final and all that is what they cling to these days.

7 of their 11 wins from bottom 5 sides, only defeated one top 8 side. Truly an amazing effort only North record is worse this year.

This irks me for some reason because WEST COAST WERE IN THE 8 WHEN WE BEAT THEM CONVINCINGLY IN PERTH

Everyone expected Essendon to finish bottom 4, many thought bottom 2, or last.

We've played more interstate games than our original fixture.

We didn't finish bottom two, or bottom four, we finished 8th.

What exactly is it you think you're so cleverly declaring here?

We're playing finals with 11 wins and a percentage of 109%

We weren't a bottom four side like everyone thought, they've done well, the draw is irrelevant to that. We lost against Hawthorn in Round 1 that was a very poor loss, we lost to Sydney by 3 then 7 points, and GWS by 2 then 13.

We've finished in the middle band of sides, with a young group, only really having been blown away by Port, Brisbane and Geelong on their home decks who are all Top-4 sides, and a misleading scoreline to Richmond that was all piled on in the second half of the last quarter after the side simply ran out of legs, before Richmond imploded.

People can diminish things however they like, but they've well outperformed expectations, had a pretty difficult fixture travel-wise given we had all our interstate games early, and had a number of our home games moved. All the stuff about getting a team at their worst etc.. is just noise.

I'd defend those teams we beat. They are all professional, AFL standard teams trying to win.

We beat the Dogs. The minor premiers didn't
We beat the Eagles. 2nd placed Port didn't
75pt win v Saints....Lions, Swans & GWS were teams in the 8 that failed to beat them. Swans loss in the middle of 4 losses that saints chalked up. Lions right before that run started.
Convincingly beat the Pies twice. Something the minor premier couldn't do once.
