Yeah seems like a clear lie. This whole thread’s premise was us being the worst side in the comp after losing 3 established players for speculative picks.

Outside of Dodoro swindling Carlton out of pick 8 for Adam Saad we were considered big losers.

Is their any proof Zach Reid is any good?

Bombres fans love playing the ‘Saad card’ yet the pick they got in return for him has played a grand total of 2 games.

Meanwhile Saad has had a great first season including a best on ground performance against his previous club.

I’m backing Carroll to play more senior footy than Reid next year too just quietly.

Saad will be finished in a few years. Reid has hopefully a long future ahead. If Reid hasn’t come on in a few years then yes it will look bad for us

A few years? Saad is 27, and hasn’t missed a game in 3 seasons.

Super durable player, and isn’t spending a game getting banged up around a stoppage setup. Rebounding defenders in general have better shelf life.

Reid might come good but he’s still a raw prospect taken after playing very little footy in his draft year. It’s worked out OK for the Bombers with Perkins and Cox, and might have actually been assisted by the lack of exposure, but their are going to be cases where the opposite occurs.

Jack Carroll’s (aka the other pick in play) year in the reserves was better than Reid’s too.

Interesting to see how it plays out over the next 5 years.

We were a bottom 4 team going into the year, we snag a finals spot and are upset about losing to the dogs.........in the wet? There were definitely dissapoiting parts of the game but as a season as a whole it was a success.

we are building to something good. We didn't need to win today to prove that.

I don't think this is a false dawn like previous years, I think essendon are heading in the right direction. Today was a game of a team that spent most the year in the top 4 and fell out in the last minute vs a team who fell into the top eight. I don't mean any disrespect by that, the bombers had a great second half of the season but all the other teams around them fell over. Bombers will be around the mark this time next year.

Finals experience years ahead of schedule, players to come back in, young prospects to keep improving.

Blues have won numerous finals with 5 spoons and no flags to show for it. And will likely add a 6th spoon next year. We'll have benchmarks on finals wins when we know we're ready to go all the way, when it actually matters.

Vindication was achieved. The rebuild rolls on. Bring on 2022.
