Even if they don't pick up the win, i'm not dure they would be considered worse than some of the bad teams from 10-15 years ago.

With the rule changes since then, those teams playing today would have been 10 goals down against north last night at half time.

Not sure I agree. Essendon was the only club doing this, nobody else was.. I think this is a bit of the victim talk some mention.. it’s like that high school kid caught cheating on his essay or taking drugs and his excuse is “ but all my friends did too”.

Not sure the list is as bad as they are performing. Given what they have at their disposal with high performance centre, big club, big MCG games, they should be an attractive proposition for FA's and trades. Brad has sent the culture backwards.

The drug saga was the culmination of a decade of bad decisions. They've followed it up with another decade of bad decisions.

In hindsight what should have been done when the list got suspended was a proper rebuild, but the club kept refusing to do it properly and here we are.

Essendon are currently 61.8% without a win so certainly in the mix at this stage. Above Richmond on the ladder, however.

thats a weird one.

From 1989 to 1996 each year they got the wooden spoon. 1989 and 1990 was a 10 team comp until woodvile and west torrens emerged. from 1991-1996 it was only 9 teams.

the weird thing is in 1988, sturt made finals in 5th. and the year they escaped from the bottom spot, they made finals in 1997.

I looked at the ladder of those years too.

you alaways think how they were 0-22 in 1995. Yet they finished top of the ladder in 1998 and fell short in that 1998 grand final.

Was Mark Neeld the worst coach in the history of the AFL/VFL? I'd argue it would be hard to find a worse one imo.

Why is it always some massive cultural issue and not the fact Dodoro drafted a bunch of small mids that can’t win hard ball, run or use the ball.

Melb 2013, Carl 2018, Freo 2001 and Stk 2000 were all pretty awful teams but each club was in a prelim exactly five years later (four in St Kilda’s case as well). Getting your list management and coaching decisions right is crucial.

GWS made a prelim three years after the 2013 season but their circumstances were different.

Not sure if Essendon can turn it around but the precedence is there.
