Essendon - 3 Movers Gone & Mecuri still there!

Essendon had to get rid of 3 prime movers to get some relief on their salary cap. But with the exodus the main problem still remains, they have one massive liability in Mark Mecuri. The guy costs them a fortune and still has 2 years to run on his contract.

Dont know who was the bright spark that signed him up on a 5 year contract, but they sure stuffed up. 2 years into it, no other club was realistically interested in him.

Its interesting the get rid of 3 players in the mid to low 20's and are stuck with 2 old hacks in Mecuri and Missiti.

You just gotta laugh, 2 years ago they were declared the greatest team ever, now they are a shadow of it, 2 years later.

i wouldn't want him if he played for peanuts, have alwasy thought he was way over-rated.

A fit Mercuri is a scary proposition for any opposistion club. The bloke needs a decent slice of luck. Yeah he`s on plenty and must deliver, big summer for the boy coming up.

Mecuri is a hack. How Essendon ever agreed to that contract is beyond me.

The simple thing is no other club sees much value in him that's why they won't take him in a trade.

At the time a 5 year contract for a 25 year old who had just been the Brownlow runner up, All-Australian and club B&F most clubs would of done that
