Just running onto the field before the game makes them brave.

My late mum, my sister, my half brother, my Auntie, a couple of her kids, my sister-in-law, her father all follow/followed the Dopers but somehow I can't find it within myself to have any sympathy for such a cheating club.
you'd be a brave man.........

Would * be Carlton fans most hated club?
it better be...........they waved spoons at the wrong bloke at the wrong time..........and they were my most despised even before that going back to the 80s.....

For me it was the night Tim Watson jumped over the pack at VFL Park - the hatred has grown ever since.
that wasn't even a regular game was it? thought that was an escort cup fixture or something?

That didn’t help but that 81 (maybe 82?) game at PP when Neil Daniher and thug Roger Merrett took the game from us in the last quarter did it for me - the infamous Fitzy “holding onto the ball too long” free kick game
81 - we were something like 20 points up coming into time on, idiot fitzy stalled for time, umpire ian robinson pinged him for wasting time, danihers and vanderhaar went psycho, we lost by a point - my most entrenched memory of that day aside from stomping on my beany outside princes park was my poor dad turning around to me just before the siren and saying in an astonished voice "they're gonna lose it"...........yes dad, that's our carlton.......

Ever since watching the 93 GF with a bunch of bandwagon essendope supporters ive loathed them…

Except…. The Anzac Day game where the * came from no where to win… the Zakarkis game. That did give me a small about of pleasure, moreso Collingwood losing the unloseable

Growing up in the 70s it was all about Richmond. During the 80s it was Collingwood. 90s on it's been *. Still don't like the Pies, have mellowed on the Tigs. Don't like Norf for any particular reason.
we couldn't beat * in the 80s..........

I looked at scoreboard walking out just to make sure it really happened

North are a s**t bunch of snipers and have had too many divers and punchable faces in their teams the last decade and more. An understandable dislike.
Harsh.

It was. Brilliant bit of play by him.

loved lloyd pointing at mcgrath jogging alongside an opponent "what's that?"
Hated Lloyd as a player but have mellowed in him a bit, unlike most talking heads ex players, he doesn’t play it safe, looking at you darce and lingy, he doesn’t mind sinking the boots into his old club

Still gives me nightmares that game.

I'm with Cornes on this one. I hate watching Carlton players smile and joke with the opposition when they've just dished up a pathetic performance. It makes you question whether it really hurts and whether it means much to the players.

I get football has changed but I can't imagine that true competitive spirit had gone

We went from 1981 to 1986 not being able to beat them - Sheedy’s standing order was for at least one Carlton player to leave the ground on a stretcher- usually it was Glasscott or Marcou.

I swear we beat them in 1985.
We beat Monbulk in our under 17 game and I got to Belgrave station from there to watch us beat them at Princes Park. I think I did not arrive until in second quarter but was listening on radio on train and tram until I got in the magical place.

According to AFL tables we had a win against them in 85 and 86.
