Chris Daniher, Raines, McKenna and Fantasia were all on my list for this double pick. Shit.

Pick 135: David Shaw. 177 games, 2 time premiership player in the 60's.
Pick 136: Mathew Stokes. With small forwards being the current flavour I think I'll take a quality one that in Geelong's dominant years was kicking around the 30 goals a year mark

And there goes my other short list forward pocket. Oh what a morning!

Back to the drawing board I go.

You guys are campaigners.

Oh good, I was nervous that I'd made the wrong choice and he might have slipped through to my next round because everyone had seemingly forgotten about the top ups

I can't trust Sporno 4 Pyros, Shermy and, of course, jmoo wan so I am going to have to go tall to ensure that my team works the way I want it to.

Big Jim Stewart, you're in.

199cm, 100kg | key forward / key defender

He's currently sitting on 77 games from 2013 to 2021 and 66 goals (18 (18) for GWS and 54 (48) for Essendon).

He's a player that we have not seen the best of but who I think has show the ability of a high quality AFL key forward and defender.

He's a big, powerful man with a good turn of speed and great work rate. While he was a fair bit lighter in 2017 he was basically our hardest working forward who was playing more as a half forward than a tall. In brief stints, at the end of 2017, the start of 2018 and then once he found some movement in 2020 he has shown the ability to kick multiple goals on quality key defenders.

He looks solid in defence and I think he's out to stamp himself as a genuinely good key defender and lynchpin of our defence for the next 3 to 5 years.

He'll swing forward and back depending on who I'm up against.

18 + 54 doesn't equal 77.

72 league games for Stuey.

Sorry about the delay…after jmoo wan took Heffernan I had to do some research on the guys who played in all the granny’s between 1946-51
I don’t think I have seen the name Gordon “whopper” Lane here.
131 games, 256 goals for the club
3 flags in ‘42 (6 goals), ‘46 (7 goals)& ‘49
Rated by Jack Dyer as the best centre half forward in the game.
Besides being a superb overhead mark, Lane was also a dynamic and damaging player at ground level, capable during his peak years of snapping goals with either foot from distances of up to 50 metres.

You can read more about him here: https://australianfootball.com/players/player/gordon+lane/6517

Russell Blew

Pacy wingman who played in the 62 and 65 flags, finished 2nd in the B&F in 1964 and was a Vic state representative

Angus Monfries, 200 gamer. Good accurate kick for goal. Good for the occasional miss match. Really solid player. Shermy

Clyde Donaldson - Another google and I like the cut of his jib.

+++
After making his VFL debut with Essendon in 1913, Clyde Donaldson's career had just begun to blossom when it was interrupted by four years abroad serving with the Australian Expeditionary Force. During that time he represented the Australian Training Units in an exhibition match in London.

Donaldson resumed with the Dons in 1919, and quickly established himself as one of the finest permanent back pocket players in the game. He had as much pace as the nippiest rover and this, coupled with his strength and aerial prowess, made him extraordinarily difficult to beat. He was also a thumping kick, characteristically tearing out of his back pocket to meet the ball at full tilt before propelling it back into Essendon's attacking zone.

A member of the Same Old's 1923 and 1924 premiership teams, Donaldson was also a regular Big V representative, earning state selection in every year between 1920 and 1923 and again in 1926. He retired at the end of the 1926 season after 144 VFL games.

My side so far.

FB: M. Johnson, A. Epis, D. McKenzie.
HB: G. Foulds, R. Andrews, ?
C: ?, B. Davis, P. Ogden.
HF: D. Reynolds, B. Caracella, B. Brittingham.
F: ?, K. Forbes, ?
R: Hille, Z. Merrett, ?

Thanks for the tag, Shermy.

I'm gonna put pick 144 in the middle.

From Ringwood, I'm gonna go with Neil "Nobby" Clarke. (1957-2003.)

Pick 145 needs a fair bit of gravitas.

He will be showing us a fair amount of leadership.

He's one for the higher-ups.

Enjoy your stay, David Shaw.

Wow, compelling evidence of a great player.

It's what I love about this thread, also an educational journey

I'm gonna go with Mal Pascoe, Tasmanian football legend, who only recently passed away last year. Mal played 94 games for Essendon in the midfield, and 177 games as a triple premiership Coach/Captain for the Hobart Football Club (forward). He was one of the three P's whom were a legendary trio that have a stand at the TCA after them. He was a William Leitch Medallist (best player in Tas state league) in 1959 and led the competition in goals that year and the following. Even up until a half a decade ago, he was a regular at the club, and even handed me my first guernsey in my underwhelming playing days. Welcome to my team Mal.

Neil "Nobby" Clarke

Tenacious, determined back pocket who graduated to roles such as tagging Leigh Matthews in the 84 GF. Much loved dual premiership clubman who sadly took his own life at 45.
